I know a lot of us are from the initial migration from ISG, but I was curious as to how a lot of the members found the site. Word of Mouth? Google? Other?

Do tell...

Personally, I was part of the migration from ISG and received a phone call from jaster, I think. I may have had some prior warning from terryand that it was happening too.

Unfortunately for some, he told me. ;). Since subsequently being banned, it's all I have :(

Bruce, do you remember if we were a long way down the list/rankings? Although I have done some looking into it, we haven't put that much effort into increasing our search engine rankings.

In fact, last time I did a google search on OZgolf, your blog ranked higher.

Better metatags have been added since we changed layouts, plus it's probably been a few months since I last looked.

But who's going to search for ozgolf? It's better to get higher on some other golf terms.

I'm aware of that. It was meant to be a joke. Pretty lame, huh?

I'm currently going through the whole 'elevate our site up the rankings' thing at work. There seems to be quite an art to it...

i got wind of a possible "rebel" site when Goughy and i were talking about how much we hated some of the people at ISG.

I think the main aim of this place was to have somewhere where we could arrange golf games with each other, seeing as though most of us live here in Brisbane.

Glad Goughy went through with his plan ... this place is great 8)

i've been posting on ISG since 2002 and must have been overseas/asleep whe everyone left to come here, because I missed it all and had no recollection.

i found this site via a game with briswesty that was organised via ISG.

BrisWesty
9th February 2006, 05:45 PM
I tried to organise an ISG day at Keperra in June last year, and I would have just about ended up playing with myself. Hmmm, let me rephrase that ...

I think someone at ISG sent me a PM and said there was a day happening at Nudgee and I was welcome to come along, so I said bother it and came over to the dark side. Had a pleasant round with Moe.

Then spent about 2-3 months trying to find ozgolf.com, instead of ozgolf.net.

Not long after this site was set-up Goughy sent a post to the newsgroup. Until I saw that post I didn't even know that there were any OZ based golf forums.

Completely missed all of the crap over at ISG and came straight here. I've ever looke at ISG once (G69 played a game of Who am I when I first introduced myself and I needed to do some research).

I see you've got Bruce Kennedy in your avatar. Have you tried his sidesaddle putter?

Tried all of Bruce's putters , use to work next door where they made the putter heads and happen to get one of the 3 of them and shafted them and gripped them myself , used them for a couple of years and worked good. Gave one of them to a Pommy mate and he took it back to the UK and likes it, the other 2 are in the garage and get a run occasionally.
Good putters but I am using another long putter now.

Would like to but need those new, or newish, clubs and the Mrs can be a real pain in the ****. For example we rent out a house and the oven died last week, it was over 20 years old, so now the wife is telling me we have to buy an oven before we can even think of new clubs. Then she has the nerve to question my priorities! Who cares if their food's a bit cold?

I'm limited to practicing putting during my lunch hour at Vic Pk range. So if you see someone with a yellow Macregor cap, putting with the left hand below the right - and swearing alot - then it's probably me.

Now using conventional length putter ... hopefully, I'll start to sink some putts.
