Just a post on behalf of one of my mates who has changed jobs and now works 2 out of 3 weekends. Anyone know of any good midweek member ship deals going at the moment?

If he is playing mostly mid week, then his 2 best choices are joining a cheaper club & playing mostly open days,

or

Join a top notch club outside Sydney as a country member. (I heard all the best people are do this)

Check out Strathfield. They have a deal where you pay based on how often you plan on playing.......If you only play mid-week, it'll be cheap as chips.....

You beat me to it, was gonna mention the points system at Strathfield. I think it's a great model for "user-pays".

If you buy a 5-day membership (Mon - Fri) then you can get into a GOOD club at a great price.

Do that for a year or two, and you can upgrade to a full 7-day membership much easier, because you've already paid their astronomic entry fees.

I suggest calling some of the better clubs and asking about their 5-day memberships. If that fails, join Casino GC for around $100 as a Country Member (no requirement to play there) and get a handicap that way.

As of today I am a member of Virginia :-D
I was out there doing a bit of practise and was impressed by their chipping and putting area, plus they have 2 ranges, one about 120m & another about 300m The course looked in great nick 8-)

I was going through the fixture book today and saw there is plenty of open days on Sundays so I will organise an Oz golf day there in the next few months :smt002

The 120m range is on the left of the par 3, 3rd, isn't it? But where is the 300m range?

the 120 meter range is on the left as you drive in the front gate

Oh yeah, now I remember it. So that other one must be a full 300m? Just didn't seem that big, I guess.

I've never played those holes. Are they a bit Mickey Mouse, and just squeezed in wherever they could fit them?
