Are we going to run tipping for Super 14, NRL & GAYFL again this year?? Super 14 starts soon so we should probably get it setup asap.

Grunt
6th February 2006, 06:41 AM
I will have another go, I have an email about how to set up a comp I think. Who ran it last year?

Courty
6th February 2006, 08:14 AM
We set up a Yahoo tipping group last year (and the year before methinks) http://yahoo.footytips.com.au

Matt 3 Jab

Jarro
6th February 2006, 02:27 PM
maybe we should just wait till the Yahoo one opens up ..... we should all be registered there still so it'd make things a lot easier ;)

I'm in, for all three comps.

Last year with Yahoo I won a DVD. Does Oztip offer random (or non-random) prizes?

Grunt
8th February 2006, 05:50 AM
Sorry Jim it does not look as if OzTips does give any prizes other than listing allstars after each round.

Jarro
8th February 2006, 05:55 AM
maybe we could go in the Yahoo tipping comp as well ;)

... or is that not logical ??

Grunt
8th February 2006, 05:59 AM
It is up to the majority I guess, Oztips was very easy to set up. If we want prizes that badly I guess we go to Yahoo. Does not worry me.

My NRL (and super 14) tips are in. I tried to pick the teams I think will win, but I really have no idea. Next week, it may be back to the trusty 'one home team, one away team alternatively' method.

The more NRL starters we have, the livelier the conversation.

A further AFL reminder that the first game starts on Thursday night, so tips need to be in a day early.

i'm too lazy to read the Oztips policy on non-submission of tips. Do you get the away teams, the lowest score, or nothing?

Matt 3 Jab
30th March 2006, 11:32 AM
you get the average for everyone minus 2 points. thats what happened to me in the super 14 :(

Grunt
30th March 2006, 02:26 PM
I think I did that for every comp but I will check lowest score -2 was the nrl comp settings. That way someone who does not submit tips doesn't fluke it and get way high result than someone that put them in and got them way wrong.

Well the 1st tipping comp to come to an end nears. The Super 14 tippping comp only has 2 weeks to go. The ladder is as follows:

Jimand 134
Courty 128
G69 116
Matt 116
Grunt 114
Virgil 110
Blitzer 104
Drunken 74
Eag's 64With the top 2 well in front I guess the only questions are will jim hold on after leading almost all the way & who will get 3rd. Points for semis & final are double, 4 for a win.

Courty

Grunt

jimandr
15th May 2006, 09:52 PM
I would have been higher if I remembered my picks last week.

So that's how I drew away even though I didn't have a good week. Using almost the same picks, I was 1st of over 1500 tipsters on the Sports Australia site two weeks ago, then fell apart.

I didn't even know the finals were included. So I'm not home yet. But as I suspect Courty and I have been using the same system - always pick NZ teams at home, never pick SA teams away, I'll bet we pick the same winners this week, and probably next week as well. Crusaders, Hurricanes this week, Crusaders the week after.
