Played NSW today. Great conditions for the first 9. Then within 3 holes the wind and rain came. And boy did it come. Put it this way, I had 125m to the 14th for the approach. Hit a great 7 iron (165m shot for me), balls goes up and came back. Went about 100m on the fly. The wind and the rain was crazy. Finished with 28 points, with 4 wipes. Luckily I putted very well and sunk some bombs with no 3 putts. Played the last 6 in awful conditions in 1 over. 3 of the 4 wipes came before. Weird game we play.

Nice Matty. Yeah it got a bit squally down this way yesterday.

How was the course looking?

32 points (13/19) - very patchy first nine and not much better on the back - scored a birdie 4 on the 16th when my putt hit someone's marker and rebounded in - first time playing off 14 so not too disappointed - as they say, any result with a 3 in front of it is okay

Unfortunately I was two fairways away from the one I was supposed to be on haha.
Well played E, the greens were rolling pretty good today.
I had 31pts off a 6hcp, apart from two crap drives I smashed it off the tee all day to leave wedges left only to miss the greens & not make the up & down. Talk about frustrating, it's like missing your mouth with a bloody spoon. On a bright note, the Jetspeed is an absolute beauty!

Shot 40 pts playing off 5 around The Vines Lakes Course in comp yday. Slope rated 126 and par 72. Finally, a summer breakthrough round is here. 9 fairways, 9 greens in reg, 5 up and downs inside 40m and 26 putts. Dare say I left 4 birds out there that missed by an inch or hung on the edge of the hole. 2 birds, 3 bogies, rest was parred. The back nine was played in 1 under. The front 2 over with bogeys on 13, 17 and 18.The round was a new PB on Lakes and the cap reaches an equal all time low of 3.8!

So for shooting 12 over off the stick I had a 'played to' 6 over! There, not so bad, is it?

Greens definitely rolled well, won 2ball with 47 lol.. been reading that -6 with 6GIR. So true. Missing greenside & straightforward chips & not getting within 3 feet even 5feet lol. I think I have to ditch the Texas wedge & bite the bullet since I dont practice.

Really cant shoot a number, some things will never change!!

7/14 fairways - didnt hit it too badly

11/18 greens - still struggling with hitting a fade

35 putts - only 2 x 1 putts. I had 12 holes in a row where i 2 putted. I honestly cannot putt.

35 points off 6. it'll rate -2 so thats a 9 over

After a couple of good games in a row, it was back to the usual rubbish for 33 points at Ballina today.

I started well, and was unlucky to be only 2 up after 7, and then played poorly the rest of the way. My score wasn't helped by getting every chip to within 8 feet, only to miss the putt.

I know how to swing the right way, but I just couldn't do it. Maybe next time it will come flooding back again.

Hey Matt, good numbers there except for putting & your saying you cannot putt. But as per rotella, off the greens you missed, how many chips/pitch to within 3 feet?

Yeahs wedges were poor as well. But I missed a fair few within the 10ft range for birdie. Only birdie of the day was on 18 which was a 2 putt as it's a short par 5.

Won match play quarter final this morning. Playing off 20 vs 13 marker. Started horribly, lost the first two holes without even getting on the green. Was in trouble on third but managed to eke out a half. Then proceeded to win 4,5,6, half 7, win 8,9,10 to be suddenly 4 up. Halved 11, 12, 13 then parred 14 to win 5 and 4.

Felt like I hit the ball poorly all day but putted well.

On to the semis, I play the defending champion who is in ominous form. Playing off nine he was only two over off the stick in his match.

Seeing as the rain scared off my partners, I got some range work and some time on the putting green in the light rain. Then when it stopped I made a break for it down the 10th. Played 3 holes- 10, 11, 12 before my ride turned up. I hit it very solid too. I'm definitely going to keep the Covert @12.5*. The carry I got on 10&12 was awesome. There's a ridge that runs through the 10th at about 245m from the back tee and I generally land on top or slightly over. My drive today landed and plugged in the muck just short of the 100m marker which I make at roughly 265m. I've never hit it there on the fly before, was a bit shocked to see it there. I'll be 'lofting up' for the foreseeable future. Pretty happy.

FIR-2/2
GIR-3/3
Score- 10(-2)

Which leads me to my next point. Had my closest ever call with an ace at 11, 149m with a 7i straight at the flag one hop and I think it hit the pin and settled inside a metre. I guess the age old question, if it went in and no one saw it, did it happen?

28 points in my first outing at WAGC. Played horribly, couldn't get the ball in play from the tee and putted poorly.
Wiped 5 holes, and a couple of them were 2 shot holes. 3x 3putts, 38 putts total, 2 GIR and 4/13 fairways.
Only highlight was making par on the index 1 hole.

Can only improve from here I guess...
