Hi all

Well I went to the GP this morning for a check up as requested from my Specialist after a week since the sugery to remove the Brain Tumour. I feel really good considering and in my opinion I thought I would be able to do most things in life without too many conditions from today.
I was wrong and he basically told me that I was only allowed to rest and do no real exercise for another 3-4 weeks even though I feel fine. So the comeback to golf now has to wait until the 24th Feb at the earliest when I see the Neurologist again. Going to go nuts, even the doc said it will be really hard as I seem to be as fit as I was before they found the Tumour.
He said the brain will take up to 18 months to fully recover from the operation even though I may feel as if it is back to normal now. He also said that the skull recovering from the fracture that the doc's put in it for access will take up to 6 weeks to recover fully. Rachelle is going to be pleased as all the little jobs around the house that need doing will get done as boredom will garrantee that I do them to fill in days.
I am going to ask if I can help out at Macarthur Grange on Saturday mornings just to give me time with the guys I play with, possibly acting as a course marshall to help the newer members play a bit faster and not hold up people throughout the day.

Sorry if I have gone on a bit, a little disappointed that even though I feel fine the docs wont let me do anything I feel capable of doing.

Don't over do it mate, even the little chores can wait, health first even if you feel fine. Usually these doctors have some idea !!!!

I've got some jobs that need doing if you run out at your place. ;)

Lol Courty, might have to take up the invite. Only problem is as a Boeing 747-400 series licenced aircraft maintenance engineer I am actually quite expensive as a labourer.

I'm sure I had some broken Jumbo's around here somewhere...

Btw, if you're ever bored & looking for a chat, look me up on Microsoft or Yahoo Messenger.

That is great news, Grant. Stay relax, 1 month will pass quickly enough. You can catch up on all those Oprah that you have missed in the pass.

Never thought of that TS, thanks I think.

Maury Povich is much better than Oprah.

My favourite episodes are "you used to think I was ugly but now I've got fake tits, a fake tan and dress like a stripper".

You've just had brain surgery mate! You have the best excuse in the world to take it easy for a while.

Why would one doc say no, then another say yes?

Well I played ok for 30 points, ballstriking was great putting was terrible on the slowest greens in Australia. Any putt longer than 8 feet you had to hit it as hard as you could to get it to the hole. :(
Will play again tomorrow, feeling great this afternoon.

Well just another update for you all out there. I go to the neurosurgeon on Friday afternoon for a check-up to see how I have recovered from the brain surgery. Hopefully it will give me the ok to resume a normal life oncemore. I have since found out from work that I will then need to be given the ok from the QANTAS doctor too before resuming normal work duties.
So hopefully I will be driving myself into work next Thursday to start my 1st 12 hour shift since the 16th Jan:) . If not I will be getting a train in on Wednesday to start an up to 3month period of desk duties:???:.
Then also I will be back to being the travelling golfer that I was playing open days all round the shop.
Will post once after I see the doc on Friday.

Hi All

Good News, Brain Cancer beaten Todays appointment with Neurosugeon went as I had planned. Tumour was benign, no need for another appointment with him for 12 months. I have to stay on the anti-seizure drugs for at least until 12 months from the seizure. He has given me the right to go back to work as of Monday, will have to get approval from QANTAS doc some time next week. He has restricted my duties until 17th April to basically an office job. My boss said he could do that no worries when I spoke with him this week and I would keep my shift penalties.

On the whole very happy,

NEXT CHALLENGE!!!!!!

Yet another update, today things have gotten way better. I will be resuming full shift on restricted duties, including no climbing or high places.
In effect that means my weekend availablity has changed somewhat, but it also means that I can resume my normal life:p
All I have to do is see the QANTAS doctor on wednesday morning, start my shift again on Thursday and get on with it, 4 on 5 off WOO HOO

What about the more important question. When are we playing golf next?

No, seriously. With all the 'bad' possibilities that could have happened, your recovery has been miraculous. Well done.

Of course, it was probably the hot chocolates that did it.;)

Well the purpose of this reply/final update is to thank all of you OzGolfers out there.

I now feel great and am to what the doctors feel is a good recovery with only having to take medication so as there are no side effects as my brain resets itself in the cavity that was made when the tumour was removed.

I go back to work on Thursday, back to doing what I like to do, keeping the planes that some of you fly on time to time fully serviceable.

I also can resume my other role as the guy that plays Open days all over the shop thru the week as all you other OzGolfers are at work.

Your messages of support, the fuel cards, the meals have blown me away in what was I have to say was one of the scariest moments of my life, if not the scariest.

I was blown away how quickly you all got together to support a fellow OzGolfer and that moment will also be remembered by myself and my family for the rest of our lives.

Thank you OzGolf :smt038

Well this thread is open again and hopefully next week will be closed forever. I have the 12 month follow up tests next week with the final (hopefully) appointment with the neurosurgeon on Friday. I have a MRI on Wednesday and have been wanting to get this out of the way for months. It will be soo good to get this all out of the way. As much I say it that I have been good, I have had this thing in the back of my mind recently that I have not yet been given the all clear. It should be done next Friday. On Friday next week this thread will be CLOSED for good!!:smt023

I will even get a haircut seeing as I have not had one since the op last year.

MRI done - Neurosurgeon appointment @ 1pm tomorrow.
Had a mini scare yesterday during the scan. Midway they stopped and there I was lying in the machine wondering what was going on. The nurse soon came in and had to inject me with something to highlight on the scans, she had not got the injection stuff ready before it started as it was not on my test sheet. Scared the crap out of me.

Tomorrow night this will be over FOR GOOD.;)

It is over! :smt038
After 14 months of not knowing whether this whole episode is over or not, it finally is. I was real nervous sitting in the waiting room this afternoon. What if it had grown back or something? I had all these thoughts going through my head.
What a relief?
Dr. Kwok did not say much he just highlighted the tumour in the before MRI and the little void that is left where the tumour was on the new MRI. He then said he never wanted to see me ever again:p
I was ecstatic as I paid the receptionist, I was holding it all in. I had to run out of the hospital grounds. I sat in the car rang Rachelle to let her know it was over and then had to sit there for a second.
IT IS ALL OVER:smt023 No more Sick Grunt Stories!
