Looking to get a hit in here, mainly to see what all the "Royal" fuss is about.

Obviously I'll give them a call next week, but so many people have been telling me I won't get on because I am not from interstate.

Comments on this statement?

Cheers,
Ben

The guy I played with on Saturday, had just played RQ. So he is not from interstate, but you need to be invited by a member.

What's your handicap? There's an open event on there in April.
I think handicap limit is 6.4
It's on the Golf Qld website.

You can get on pretty much anywhere if you follow protocols! Get your club to send a letter to the GM at RQ.
Give them a little bit of flexibility on dates. They won't let you play in a comp but I'm sure they will let you on a Monday or a Thursday arvo! All that changes of course if you are reciprocal!

Otherwise, They will be happy to take your money!

I figured that it wouldn't be as easy as a walk up start. Did find this on their website:

PLAYING AT RQVisitors are welcome at Royal Queensland Golf Club by prior arrangement on the days and at the times set out below, provided that the Club’s Dress Code is observed.
Please contact our Golf Service Centre on (07) 3633 6555 for bookings or enquiries, or alternatively you may complete our online enquiry (http://www.rqgolf.com.au/cms/contact) form.

Monday and Friday
Tuesday (after 1:00pm) and Thursday (after 12.30pm)
Access RequirementsTo be eligible to play the visitor must provide written proof of current membership of a Golf Club (Social Clubs are not acceptable) and proof of a current official handicap.

How much is a round there? $100+??

From memory it was $220.

Unfortunately, unless a member gets me on, or I move interstate (or a fair way north), won't be having a game there for a while.
