View Full Version : NSW: Sydney OZgolf Ambrose something or other...

Thought I'd bring this idea out of the thread it originated in...

Based on Davepuppies' suggestion that the four Richmond members (him, Matty, Dangals and myself) would form a formidable Ambrose team (presumably because I'm 5 shots worse than I should be), a challenge has gone out.

A foursome of Jado, Stealth2, mrbluu and a 4th member will take the Richmond crew over a best of 3 series, venues TBA.

I think there is scope for a third group to participate if other Sydney guys want to put a team together.

Stay tuned for further developments.

I'm interested either way

Ahhhhh, Ambrose.....

My mostest favourite of all the forms of golf......

The good golfer that lives deep, deep down inside me only ever comes out on Ambrose days........

Bring this shit on!!

Gotta be the real thing...

I reckon a liptout/rqrox/Anfieldred/insert 4th here would be dangerous, BTW...hence why I think it could be worth putting something together with more than the 2 teams.

As opposed to the usual 'The one further up is only 180m out. One of us should be able to curve it around the trees, over the water and onto the green.'

I was going to suggest it the other day but now that DavePuppies has done his ankle (hope you're better soon) how about teams of three? It shouldn't be too hard to get 2 x groups of three playing at the same time (mmm sledging) & eliminates Holden Scramble type behaviour (cheating). If we get enough players we could have a Central Coast team, South Coast, Richmond, Penrith etc.

liptout
29th December 2013, 02:38 PM
I'm with Jado!! We could get about 5 different teams together, awesome.

Good thing brother.........

Let's get this shit on

Then we could all meet at a pub/club one night and hold a Calcutta type draw thingy.

That would be fun!! :D

KristianJ

Yep, sounds like a great idea. Some sort of sledging would be essential...some Baseketball style psych outs!

KristianJ
31st December 2013, 10:19 AM
I'll amend OP tonight in the midst of NYE celebrations (or potentially lack thereof)...

I am keen on the idea of "territorial" teams (for example, given DP's affinity wit hthe northern beaches he could team up with , say, Virge and Croydo), but if the majority rules otherwise I'll go with that.

davepuppies
31st December 2013, 11:20 AM
I think it would be a shame for me to play with Northern beaches guys if it was me that suggest us 4 Richmond boys get together to take on the world........ Not that I have anything against the beaches boys!

Not that I have anything against the beaches boys! True...well, on the basis of this it will probably need to remain a 4 man ambrose, and maybe we can try a 3 man one later in the year.

Just apply the usual handicap based on number of players. Eg 4 man team 1/8th, 3 man team 1/6th

Kristian….It seems the idea has some legs, can we agree on the ground rules...

a) number of players per team
b) criteria for being a team member
c) how many teams to participate
d) first venue ideas

Let's get that sorted and then the BS can start properly!!!!!!

KristianJ
7th January 2014, 07:39 PM
What we might do is get the original challenge out of the way then go full tilt with the larger ambrose.

I would be happy with either 3 or 4 man teams, and for people to buddy up as they please (although I still like the regional idea).

Cap it at 6 teams and we can agree on a venue...

Im not too fussed either way, really. :)

I've committed to a round at Concord that morning...half a chance I could make a dash to Pennant Hills afterwards if the tee time at Concord is early enough but probably won't happen.

I've never played Pennant Hills before Dotty so I'm keen to give this a shake. 4 man ambrose? If I've got mates that want to come is that ok?

PM me with an email address, and I'll forward an entry form, which has a contact number/email for inquiries.

I asked last week, and there is no problem with multiple visitors for this event. (Normally, the club has a 'one guest per member' policy.)

I'll start a thread tomorrow, in case we can put a team or two of OzGolfers. (The organiser said she can put teams together, as there have been a few individuals looking for a game.)
