Skirmish for me, used to be right into it. Our team The Regulators won the Australasian games and we were sponsored by one of the ammo companies.

Hunting. Shot plenty of roo's, rabbits and other varmint in my younger day but now regret it if anything.

No regret over the wild pigs nabbed with dogs or sometimes shot tho.

I reckon it lost its mojo around the end of the Stockton - Malone era.

Would not argue that...in fact I would just throw a blanket over that "legendary era" when names like Hakkeem, Bird, Stockton, Malone, Wilkins, Webb, Pippen, Grant, Kemp and alike still ran the boards. Basketball had soul and character back then, now its just a bunch of street thugs all playing the same brand of basketball. At least College keeps it interesting I suppose.

Now those are the names I like.

To a lesser extent: Robinson, Mourning, Payton, Johnson, Miller, Mullin, Drexler, Thomas, Rodman.

+1 on early 90s NBA. Even though he's a full foot shorter than me, I'd happily buy a Muggsy Bogues Charlotte Hornets singlet (seen them a few times in sports stores).

It's pleasing that I can put first names to all those surnames (or vice versa for Hakeem Olajuwon).

I concur on the NBA sentiments. The original Dream Team was the pinnacle of perfection. Accept no substitutes.

I'm sure this would have been posted before but have you seen Charles Barkley's golf swing. Wow.
Good basketballer, but I really don't know how he hits the golf ball.

Wow. You made me google it.

W.T.F. Stop halfway through your downswing then scoop it into the air much? Who taught him to play, Forrest Gump?

Let's see who else I can dredge up as blasts from the past...

English, Dumars, Laimbeer, Webb, Laettner, Grant, Stackhouse, Green, Worthy, Paxson, Majerle, Smits, Sprewell, Hardaway (x2), Kidd, Horry, Cartwright.

I think the peak of the cringe worthiness has to be the New Orleans Pelicans.

Philly had a back court of heresy Hawkins and johnny Dawkins. The 90's was awesome for Basketball, even the NBL was going well.

Golden state had run TMC....

6 foot Kevin Johnson dunks on the 7 foot 4 Mark Eaton!!

Yes I used to watch the NBA every week back in the 90s. I have only seen a couple of slam dunk contests since.

I remember watching Drazen Petrovic tear the olympics apart one year, and after that he was my equal favourite player alongside Stockton. I alternated between New Jersey and Utah on NBA Jam, and refused to play the Bulls. I hated the Bulls, and the hordes of merch-wearing Jordan wannabes. Even today I still try to foul guys wearing number 23. :)

Like many here, I couldn't even tell you who plays in the NBA these days (other than Bogut and Mills).

Drinking no longer floats my boat now that I am old and boring.

I have given up alcohol, coffee and any caffeine drinks and while I'm not sure if I will live longer it most certainly seems longer.

I used to like the bulls but had nothing to do with the merchandise but the fact that they were awesome. Lakers and pistons were pretty good too. Remember playing nba jam for hours after a night out with mates was great fun. Boomshakalaka!

LL. you may have seen it, ESPN run a cracking series called 30 of 30 (or something similar), one of the programs is Vlade Divac talking about the Yugoslav team, going to America and how the war changed his friendship with Petrovic amongst others.

I was old and boring years ago, push on through, the alternative to not drinking is awful. Let XXXX Gold be your friend.
