Where to play in Sydney ?

Heading to Sydney with the family for two weeks over the XMAS holidays to visit the out-laws.

Needless to say, some time alone on a course will be a necessity.

Will be staying in Pyrmont with access to a car.

What are some good public courses not too far away from Pyrmont I could have a hit at ?? Not looking for anything too fancy, even a 9-hole course will be ok.
