I don't care really. It's just not a champs without one of these threads.

Is there a NTP on this hole again?

Cool hole! Do they still have that big thicket of bamboo I think on the 1st? Played there 12 years ago in its heyday great track

It's still there.

I think I'll be playing the 18th with a mixture of anger and despair.

Just played it as a par 7 and made a birdie. He duck hooked off the tee and then played it entirely down the fairways to the outside, then went 50m long and got up and down from there.

Never played it should I be scared :)

It's ok if it's downwind off the tee.. It's horrible into it though.

If I remember from champs passed, I did not play it very well both days. Do remember Shavey causing the group to almost piss ourselves laughing though.

In a cyclonic storm, it is the Champs' tradition!

Eagle.

It's been over 8,000 holes since my last eagle, so I am due for one.

Dotty I feel you may be suffering slight fatigue.

Easy hole.
Aim at the palm trees hook it into bunkers. Knock it short of water hit it short into rough leave myself a 30 foot putt lag it close and walk away with 6

PeteyD

4 iron might drown.

Jeez I'd better start studying these courses.

It's entirely possible the first even numbered shot I actually hit will be 6

They are resort courses Mike. Not a lot of surprises except a couple of holes at Royal Pines.

I scored 7 points over 2 rounds on the 18th. 8)

I must say, it played very different the second day when the wind got up.

Aiming at the palms is for big hitters only!

That was a good end to the day... not for the toad who had seen better though!

Mike, this is the 18th...

A double water carry par 5. Aim somewhere left of the palms, depending on how far you can carry it and also what the wind is doing. DO NOT bite off more than you can chew. If you get close enough to the palms, you may be in range to have a go in 2. If there is any doubt, lay up.

Holy shit.

mike

I treat all par 5s as 3 shot holes. Nothing I see there convinces me to change that.

Ah Jesus. That hole is gonna tempt the shit outta me. Which day is Palm Meadows? Sunday?

I wonder how far it is to both the palms and the bunkers.

mike
10th November 2013, 09:44 PM
I'll be aiming straight for that first bunker. Where do you big hitters aim?

PeteyD
10th November 2013, 09:55 PM
First bunker is 230m from the back tee. So are the palm trees. Water carry to flat beach left of the trees is about 215m.

If I was playing its driver, hybrid, iron, couple putts. Done.

I've put this down for closest 3rd shot so should make it interesting

The first day with no wind, I hit driver just left of the palms and finished left side of the fairway. Then hit 3 wood through the back of the green (up & down for birdie).

The second day (into the wind), I aimed at the LH bunkers, then hit hybrid, then 8 iron to the green. BIG difference when it's upwind.

I remember the first day when 1st group we had time to go and have a shower grab an esky of piss and be back before the next group got there.

I think I might putt it the whole way down the cart path like that "worst golfer in the world guy".

I remember the first day when 1st group we had time to go and have a shower grab an esky of piss and be back before the next group got there. We were second group. There was a 3 ball in front of us. I can't remember who was behind us, but they had to be 45 mins behind. It was a very memorable day.

I certainly remember going and having a shower and getting the beers to sledge the following groups.

Christ! I think ill put myself down for a solid 8 already. Hadn't seen the hole before making my first comment. I may pick up before the 2nd water carry.

I'm expecting to top my approach shot.

If it skips across the second water carry, is there a retaining wall to prevent my ball running up to the hole?
