After a ton of driving and green checking by Simmsy and a lot of phone calls, we are pleased to announce that Nully Cup 2 will be contested at Kwinana GC.

The first tee time is 8am, all groups will be off the first.

Cost is $39, with cart.

We will keep $6 of the $75 for novelties: 4 ntp, 1 ld and one mystery birdie hole.

This will give us time to get to the accommodation in the arvo and easily play another 9.

Course Tip: Beer is cheaper by the 6 pack.

Guys!
and this is for everyone!!!

these events don't just arrange themselves on a friday morning and happen. alot of time goes into these weekends by a small number of people. we have all had 11months to prepare for this weekend and yet 4 days away we still have people coming and going. each time someone says they are out it has ramifications on a number of different levels. Please make sure if you say you are playing that you turn up on the given day. if you can't commit 100% then that's a shame for everyone but we need people to make sure they can make it.

hate to rant but the amount of ins and outs this year has been comical.

So are we getting $30 back?

Gentlemen, in a field playing match play with hole concessions, etc, it probably isn't the best move to be putting out for a 9 when your opponent is in for 3.

No worries Jackson. There is a big difference between stroke and match play strategies as well.

If you only need a 6 to win a hole, you play smart and take the extra shot to win it safely, which contradicts scoring for stroke.

Friday is 100% match play and we wouldn't want anything being influenced by a stroke round going on at the same time.

There shouldn't be too many groups in front of us to slow Golfnut down.

I will explain the strategy on the day.

If he has to give you 9 shots, for example, on 9 holes, after you each drive, he would have 1 shot played and you will still be sitting on 0. It's on a hole-by-hole basis and not the overall score.

Think harder. Matchplay index vs stroke index. Is that hint big enough for you?

which is still the 17 hardest holes - using a different rating system.

to quote the USGA:
Scoring match play using handicaps is not done exactly the same way it is done in a stroke play event. In 18-hole stroke play where Player A is a -10 handicap and Player B is a -19 handicap, Player A gets one stroke off his score on the ten hardest holes (by handicap rating on scorecard); Player B gets two strokes off his score on the hardest hole and one stroke off on the other 17.

note it says "hardest". The fact that we have a seperate rating for Stroke and MP (on some courses) is irrelevant, as it is still the 17 hardest holes.

How about instead of trying to complicate it for the bloke that has never played Matchplay in his life, make life easy for him.
