We got till October-ish to play 2 or 3 rounds (depends on if we have 4 or 8 players). Things will be eminently negotiable.

Ask Bruce........he's been appointed the offical organiser of this event.
Welcome Chappy.........where do you hail from?

Bruce
22nd February 2006, 03:00 PM
If you want to play Chappy then you will be #4 and that gives us 2 rounds. I would have loved to have 8 players and 3 rounds but we are still pretty thin on the ground in Vic.

FG as the reigning Vic champion is the #1 seed and for the rest of us I guess I'll just chuck the names in a hat.

We just have to fit the 2 rounds in before October so there is heaps of time to get the rounds organised.

Sounds good

Played pretty much all the good courses, haven't managed to get on to the Capital yet though. Damn casino.

Any you people interested if I can organise a 4 ball for a Sunday at Southern?

Bruce
22nd February 2006, 03:15 PM
I'll take that as a yes then Chappy.

And with the assistance of Don (the guy who sits next to me) the randomised draw thows up the following:

Flowergirl vs Chappy1970

Bruce vs Toolish.

I'm gunna set completion dates of 30/6/06 for round 1 and 30/9/06 for round 2. That will bring the possibility of the Vic Champ going to the Ozgolf Champs.

Good luck to everyone, and Toolish - you got nuthin!

chappy1970

OK, better start practicing so as not to disgrace myself. All the talk about Flowergirl's prowess makes me a little nervous.

I get the feeling I'm being sent up the river.....bring it on anyway.

Are we still talking about golf here? You can never tell when FG is involved.

I'll nominate the location as Ouyen Golf Club...bring your sands game!!

Southern would be great...although I will have pennant until mid May on sundays!

Forgive me for some questions, as I haven't worked out how serious or sarcastic any of you are yet.

Will the 1st round matches be played together i.e. Flowergirl vs me and Bruce vs toolish. (same date, same course) Is that the general practice.

I assume that it will be at a neutral venue?

Any other info will be handy.

Bruce

In an ideal world it would be great if we could all get to one place to play these, but we have a fairly spread out group with toolish and FG on opposite sides of Port Phillip Bay. That makes such a day pretty tough to organise.

Perhaps Easter or a public holiday would allow the best chance of making that happen? What do others think? And just how far would Toolish or FG be prepared to travel?

Toolish
27th February 2006, 07:53 AM
I am happy to travel a bit. Ideally a course somewhere sort of central could be organised. Not too far down on the peninsula over there would be good. But really, once I am travelling it doesn't matter if it is 30 min or 90 min I will get there. Also, I am not worried about any local advantage or neutral venue...still have to play the course.

As for dates, I assume sunday's are the best option. Not sure how soon everyone wants this too happen. If all agree sunday is the best bet we can all work out one that suits, then see what course we can get for the day.

Hiya Chappy.........never sarcastic...maybe guilty of stirring.....and thats about it. :-D Happy to have another Vic. on board.
Last year it was just me and Bruce so as far as working out when and where etc. we'll just make it up as we go along.
And I'm with Toolish. I'm happy to travel - don't bother me at all. Most Sundays suit me.
I nominate Bruce as the chief organiser of this event - the role that he earnt by being last years runner up. I know he has cricket committments at the moment but hopefully he'll be able to organise something soon.
I'm thinking that same day same course for the four of us would be good. Give us a chance to get together.
Am I allowed to bring John ( my husband) as my caddie if he wants to join us? Mmmmmmmmmm... come to think of it he'd probably be more of a handicap than a help!!!!
And don't be worried about me Chappy......I'm a pussycat.....:-D meow

Toolish
27th February 2006, 08:50 PM
Bruce...chief organiser
Flowergirl...carry over champ?
Chappy and Toolish...newbies!! Go the newbies.

If we are allowed to bring caddies that opens up the options...mrs will be more of a chance to let me play if she can caddy, spend some quality time!

If chappy can get us on to southern I would be keen for that

chappy1970
28th February 2006, 08:57 AM
Happy to set up a 4 ball at Southern for a Sunday.

I have a week of golf coming up next week, in town and down on the peninsula. How about if I tentatively organise for Sunday the 26th of March (will have to be late morning or afternoon). I have a new baby due to arrive in 5 weeks, so if the little one decides to drop by early may have to re-schedule.

What do you think?

Chappy :-D

Bruce
28th February 2006, 10:02 AM
Let's pencil in the 26th for the moment then. I need to check the cricket fixture for finals but the semi is this week and the GF is usually over 2 weekends which might have it finishing by 19/3.

That, of course, depends on our progress through the finals.

Flowergirl
28th February 2006, 10:08 AM
Pretty sure I'm ok. I have got some tickets to Commonwealth Games but have no idea if any on that date - or if the games are still on then!
Is Southern the course near Royal Melbourne?

chappy1970
28th February 2006, 10:17 AM
Not sure where any of you guys or gals are located, Southern is in Keysborough on the corner of Sprinvale Rd and Cheltenham Rd. A few descent drives and a wedge from Keysborough golf club and a number of hefty blows to Woodlands.

Happy to organise for that day pending everyone's availability. You can see the new clubhouse (its pretty impressive, should be for $7 Million clams)

Flowergirl

Southern sounds fine to me. I'm in Rosebud.....so not too far at all.:)

chappy1970
28th February 2006, 10:20 AM
Bruce, who are you puting the whites on for?
Haven't played cricket for a long time now, but used to bowl in the one's for Dingley in the VTCA when I played.

Chappy....Rosebud Country Club is a very good course. 36 holes. Pretty flat - a challenge without being too hard. As long as your not too far off pretty forgiving with stray shots. Wide fairways, good bunkers and the greens play quite true. I'm not a member there ( my home course is Rosebud Public golf Course - Carrington Park) but still play there quite often. Hope you have a great day.:-D

Enough of being nice............just looked up your golflink......you have to give me 10 shots. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring it on boys........bring it on. :smt002

Toolish

26th is out for me...already have 3 games on that day to choose between...going to offend someone!!

Actually...looking through it appears I will not have a free Sunday until April 23rd...Pennant ties me up before that.

Hope that is not too late!

She's good at taking them isn't she. I seem to remember playing her off the stick when I had an AGU HCP of 26 and she was off 20...

Let me get a few more comp round under my belt Toolish. I should be able to narrow that gap.

chappy1970

Flowergirl always up for a challenge....so is a 4 ball on Sunday the 26th still a goer for FG, Bruce and another?

Mmmmmmmmmmm.I think this is a post I might have to edit tomorrow :)

Seriously........would love to meet up for a game Chappy

Still a spot open for whoever wants it. Sunday the 26th of March.

No problems Bruce,
please note further feedback for Southern round has been moved to 1ST tee.

Cheers
Chappy

Can you pencil me in until I confirm grand final dates/participation?

Toolish
6th March 2006, 02:36 PM
Bruce,

We need to work out a date. I am free 23rd, 24th, 25th of April, 14th May and then 4th, 11th, 12th, 25th of June. Preference would be for the 14th May, 4th or 25th June.

Other than that I am tied up with Pennant and stuff.

Let me know if any of these suit.

Bruce
7th March 2006, 10:39 AM
14 May is Mother's Day. I'm unlikely to pull that off. Anzac Day or thereabouts might be a goer though. Where's a good place we can get on out west? Gisbourne?

Toolish

Yea - whatever:-D I changed the rules - so there. Why - cos I can.:smt002 Seriously - Chappy wasn't well and we couldn't get on his course due to members only. If you want to claim the title - go for it. Chappy and I will still play our rematch and hopefully all us Vics can get together.

Toolish

Final : Toolish vs Chappy
3rd Place Match : Bruce vs FlowerGirl

Lets get those 4, plus others...Ona, Falcon, Chiper, any other vics?...in so we can have at least 2 groups...venue and date to be decided.

Sundays work best for most, 10 weekends left to have champ by end of Sept as per original schedule, better look at getting organised soon!!

chappy1970
17th July 2006, 11:01 AM
How about all the Vic Ozgolfers give an indication of their availability over the next 2 months on a Sunday for the completion of the Macthplay for 2006 and also a gathering so that I can get to know more of you.

I've only met Flowergirl and Bruce to this point (partially my fault, due to my limited availability), would like to get to know heaps more.

Venue options would be great, maybe Peninsula somewhere, Bellerine, any other suggestions?

The Vic stocks are steadily building, lets make our presence felt in this forum.

C'mon the Vics

Chappy

Pumped for this one :D

Bruce

Let's do the peninsula then. I can grab a couple on my way past if that would help. I'll check the calendar when I get home tonight.

6th of August sounds good for me.

Chappy

Flowergirl
17th July 2006, 03:30 PM
If anyone needs a bed - there's a spare one at Chez Flowergirl and Johhny boy. Don't worry - I don't sleep walk!!!!
6th August is good for us. Any ideas where???

Falcon
17th July 2006, 04:35 PM
I don't care where. Its just nice to play somewhere different than my home course.

Eagle Ridge, Dunes, Moonah, Portsea or Cape Schanck.

Flowergirl
17th July 2006, 07:17 PM
NOT EAGLE RIDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry to yell that but I HATE that course. My vote is for the Dunes or Cape Schanck. Anyone an RACV member - get cheaper rates at Cape Schanck.

Bruce
21st July 2006, 11:36 AM
I'm gunna go out on a limb here and propose:

27 August
Mornington Peninsula

Either Portsea, Moonah Legends, or The Dunes - once we determine access and/or cost.

chappy1970
28th July 2006, 08:27 AM
Do we have an agreed day of the 27th of August as per Bruce's suggestion?
Venue to be decided.

Chappy

Toolish
28th July 2006, 10:22 AM
27th works for me at the moment...pretty sure there is an Ivo at Portsea that weekend though, so rules that course out

Bruce
28th July 2006, 10:44 AM
Hey Toolish - its a pretty long drive for you so I guess we need to pick a later tee time? Unless FG has a lot of couches or something.

Toolish
28th July 2006, 12:39 PM
Early is fine...main constraint is getting home a good time, sleep is overated.

Need to decide on the course before time I guess.

Flowergirl
28th July 2006, 02:19 PM
How about The Dunes???? Yes the 27th is fine with me. And no couches - but there is a spare double bed.

chappy1970
28th July 2006, 02:24 PM
Happy with the Dunes.

Chappy

Toolish
28th July 2006, 03:13 PM
The Dunes would work for me...

Timing is another issue once we work out who is playing I guess...

May be able to use an iseek voucher too??

Ona
28th July 2006, 09:55 PM
Dunes, 27th... works for me. Not too early tho eh lads.

Flowergirl
29th July 2006, 08:15 AM
Ok...............being the senior memeber and the only chick I'm made a decsion. I have made a booking for the 27th August at The Dunes. Two tee off times 11.30 and 11.40 ( it was either then or 7.30)
Cost is $55 or $50 if you have an iseek voucher.

They require payment in full by MOnday 21st August. I will PM you later to arrange payment details.

. Come on - lets all make a huge effort to get this going. So far the most Vics we've had together has been three.

I will start a seperate thread for this so you can register.

Looking forward to this.
