Calling Virge etc....

I have a matrix Xcon 6 that feels a little heavy swing weight wise, I always like the swing weight feel of a 60 gram shaft.

Can this shaft be counterbalanced to produce a feel similar to a 60 gram shaft?

If so, how is it done?

Cheers

Any other ideas?

Was thinking of a dense foam jammed into the end of the shaft for a inch or two?

Virge?

Dave, We mucked around with counter balancing years ago and ended up giving it away. I still have an old driver with a 20 gram weight installed in the butt. We found that 20 gms was about the right amount of weight without going overboard. The weight we used was a piece of air hose (Clarke Rubber) and a metal screw. The diameter of the hose is slightly smaller than the inside dia of the shaft and the screw is a tight fit to the inside dia of the hose. From memory the hose was about 60 mm long + the screw = 20 gms. It is really easy to install in the butt and remove if not happy. The hassle is in removing and refitting the grip.

1/2" timber dowel fits in, with a layer or two of masking tape. (A screw in the end and pincers/pliers will get it out.)

As Razaar said, you can't use compressed air to get the grip on/off.

Go to Kmart

Buy a large fishing sinker

Jam it in the arse of the shaft

Tap it down till the weight feels like it is under your right hand

Grip it up

Lead tape under the grip works fine

Some guys on Golfwrx use clevis pins which evidently fit in the shaft butt without slipping inside and you can get them out if you want to play with the weight. You can get them in different sizes/weights.

You can do a search on Golfwrx for more info.
