Has anyone tried these wedges?

I have CG15s at present, and was thinking of vokey SM4s or TVDs if budget allowed, but saw the forged 588s today for a good price.

Has anyone tried these? Thoughts?
also interested if anyone has tried the new Rolex face on the 588rtx?

Cheers

Recently bought a 60/08 Black Pearl and don't mind it at all. I am thinking of adding a GW. GCO have them for $73 at present.

Golfbox have then for $79, if I recall correctly, with free next day shipping.

Nice wedges.

One of the guys I play with just got the same 588's that I did and he loves them

I should add that they are very soft and the black finish doesn't last very long, not an issue for me, but some won't like the well used look they will have very quickly.

Best wedges I have ever used. Two of my regular playing partners have also switched to them recently.

I should also add that these come with the TT Tour Concepts shafts, another little bonus.

I was impressed when I got the wedges home and had a close look to find those shafts in them

Are those shafts stock?

What is special about them?

I read the marketing from cleveland, and they say the shaft has a stiff tip, and offers lower trajectory, more spin?

Here is TT's speil, sounds like constant weight and flighted set design are the main features. You would presume the wedge shafts are like the short irons, low trajectory and medium spin.

Cleveland site says that the Tour concepts are exclusive for the 588 Forged.

Appearance wise, they look a lot like the DG Spinners, without the bubble.

I will be able to tell more after I hit them but the marketing hype says stiff tip, low/mid trajectory and more spin. I have DG Spinners in my old wedges so it will be an interesting comparison.

Golf Factory in Penrith got a heap of the chrome ones in a couple of days ago.

If they'll price match GCO I'll be keen to grab me a couple...

I was in there yesterday, and saw them, that prompted my question.....

The sales guy told me $79, but I guess if I bought 3 I might get them for $73

I would have preferred the chrome ones but at $73 each I am happy to give the black ones a go. I had a black Srixon a while back and it still looked pretty good after a year of use.

I'm after a 54 and 58...perhaps if I bought those plus the 2 you're presumably after they could maybe even do better that $73...

Could be a goer! Surely if we buy 5 wedges they will give them to us for $70 if we tell them about GCO selling singles for $73

I am after 52/56/60

Golf Factory were happy to match GCO thus I have 3 new wedges...decided to go with the 50 since the AMP GW is a little less pleasing at address.

So you paid $73?

Let me know your thoughts.....

Do they feel softer than vokeys? Impressions of spin they generate and shaft.

Cheers!

Yep, $73 per wedge. I had thought about trying to see if they'd do 3 for $210 but I was happy enough to leave it at that.

Pending weather I'll be on course tomorrow morning so will report back tomorrow arvo/evening.

I would hope they're softer than Vokeys, but I've never had a Vokey in my bag for more than a round or 2 so can't give the most accurate comparison. However the shaft and spin I'll be able to compare easily enough

Awesome!

FWIW I don't find them softer than Vokeys. Though for $69 at my pro shop (Gosford GC) they're good bang for buck.

I have 54 and 58 I don't think there any softer than my vokey but they are very very spinny, for me anyways, especially on 3/4 knock down shots.

Dan, is that for the forged 588 version?

If so that is cheap!

I tried them out of the weekend and found that they are pretty similar to my Miura's (with DG Spinner shafts) for chip or flop shots. I only really put myself in position for one full shot into a green and from 90m out it hit, hopped forward and then spun back to stop almost in the plug mark. Felt controllable. I am hoping to get out this week and actually do some practice which will give me a better understanding of them.
