Just putting it out there now we have a few members that live down here.

Who would be keen for this?

Open to venues, etc?

Getting married at Penquin in Feb so will be having a few games at Ulverstone.

Don't worry I'm not marring your mum. Lady Ferret resides in Tenterfield. We have booked out the Restaurant at the surf club for dinner.

Ferrins

I think the Tassie one should be close to the Vic one so there is the option to play both.

Peppas

I might be coming to Tassie in August can you have it then? :)

Ditto. Have it there and half of Ozgolf would turn up with enough notice.

BenM

Barnbougle/Lost Farm - so passe. :)

I would prefer to play a course where you can find your ball if you miss a fairway. But aside from that they're kinda okay tracks ;)

Ferrins
27th June 2013, 05:57 PM

but the surf club is actually at preservation bay, not Penguin

part of my late brother's ashes are scattered on the beach near the surf club

Keen to play whenever and wherever suits the travelers.

Ulverstone is a great track although my family always talks about the original course they had down on the coast. Sounds like it would have been fun to play too.

Collis
3rd July 2013, 07:03 PM
Any ideas on courses? South would be the better option as Ben is the only other member who doesn't live down here?

Sure someone could put Ben up for the night?

Ferrins

He would be welcome in Dover.

petethepilot
3rd July 2013, 07:38 PM
Surely, it has got to be Barny, but I will go with the flow! It would be a good weekend anywhere and Feb is a good time. Remember the Vic champs dates as a few of us have committed there!

Pete

No brainer as it has to be Barney to attract the mainlanders.

Collis

Question is who is going to organise it lol

kingslayer33

Collis

petethepilot
5th July 2013, 10:56 PM
I'll do it, but don't whine how it is done.

Anyone interested pm me whether you want it as a go away thing (ie 2 days/2rounds) and are you willing to travel ie Barny etc

I'm thinking late Jan due to long days/holidays etc. Will post a bit more when I get a guide to numbers! Plan this as a local thing (Tas) and if main landers want to join us, that would be great.

Pete

any others?

Will open it to Interstaters but I think we should limit it to 16 just to keep it manageable. I think Barny (36 holes) and an overnight up there!

... and my out-laws.

Much better not having to deal with the southern outlet on the way to work too.

Although Pete would have a much better chance of speccy views from down south.

Collis
10th August 2013, 05:33 AM
Southern outlet is the Exact reason I wouldn't live down there. So slow getting into town.

Peppas
10th August 2013, 06:10 AM
Jeez you blokes are a bit harsh, never seemed that bad the times I've been on it. That said I do my driving mostly in SYDNEY :(

Jan 19th is the Huon Valley open, then the following 3 weeks is the Club Championships... :-(

kingslayer33
10th August 2013, 07:21 AM
Jeez you blokes are a bit harsh, never seemed that bad the times I've been on it. That said I do my driving mostly in SYDNEY :(It's all relative Peppa Pig. Hobartians get upset if you can't leave your house and be at the office in town in 20 minutes at peak hour. Having said the southern outlet is bad the Tasman Bridge is pretty much the same. But Collis used to work in Rosny/Bellerive so maybe the eastern shore would be fine for him.

petethepilot
10th August 2013, 09:09 AM
The time it takes me to go Blackmans Bay to the city is the same it took me to go Jindalee to Indooroopilly in Brisbane (15 mins) except in Brisbane peak hour it takes double that!

Collis
10th August 2013, 07:11 PM
Prob right pete, until there is an accident in peak hour traffic. it banks up to the bridge. Silly set up the southern outlet 2 lanes into town and the traffic lights which change to quick.

I must say we are lucky here compaired to the mainland.
Still at bellerive Matt, from west moonah to work usually 12 mins as I'm going against traffic lol.

Rohan
11th August 2013, 07:18 PM
I bus it into town for work. It takes 20 mins from Glenorchy/Merton to the Hospital which is pretty good I think.

Collis
11th August 2013, 08:31 PM
Merton? Where is that.
Where did you end up joining Rohan?

It's the hilly part of Glenorchy kind of wedged between Lenah Valley and West Moonah. I think it's a new house area as no-one from Tassie has heard it before, although I'm in the old part just off Barossa St.

I ended up applying at Llanherne - just waiting for a board meeting to approve. I'm hoping to play a fair bit at Tasmania and Royal (I've got colleagues that are members at both) over the next year so I can figure out which one I'd prefer to go to. I might end up staying at Llanherne, I have really enjoyed my rounds there so far.

The missus isn't moving down for another couple of months so I'm hoping to get as many Sunday rounds in as possible. I played at Claremont 2 weekends ago and was pretty underwhelmed.

Collis
12th August 2013, 07:20 PM
Ok, I just thought it was Glenorchy.

I have a ambrose at Claremont this Sunday. Hate the course.

Will have to organise a hit when you have some free time.

I'm putting my application at royal October.

Rohan
12th August 2013, 07:53 PM
Yeah I can't see myself heading back there any time soon. It was better than Rosny though...

Collis
12th August 2013, 08:07 PM
Rosny is the old royal Hobart funny enough. A long long time ago

Rohan
12th August 2013, 08:10 PM
Yeah I heard that somewhere. Did the old course include the land across the road? That looks like it could have been a golf course.

Collis
12th August 2013, 08:13 PM
It did, both sides where the college is and also where they are building the nursing home.

Rohan
12th August 2013, 08:24 PM

Muscles

Yes, you can still see some of them.. now grass bunkers. The 18th and the 5th are still original holes from the old course.

kingslayer33

From mures head towards Salamanca. It is in the building called Elizabeth st pier up the end closest to the city. T42 is also in that building. Probably a 3 minute walk from spures! Not sure about ice cream as it's not my thing, but worst case you could always head over afterwards for the dessert.

I know I tried to get some for when I go in march and had no hope?

petethepilot

Just need one more player to lock the event in! I put the weights on Kingslayer to get his brother, Pete involved.

We will get an 8th. Just prefer it if they come from the Ozgolf world!

This is now getting a bit hard. We still don't have an 8th and I have 1 or 2 guys who may not be available!

How about we put this on hold and see how we are placed in the New Year. I don't want it just being 1 group of 4 so lets see how we are early next year.

Sorry,

Pete

PTP & others:

A few of us 'crow-eaters' have expressed interest in coming to Tassie for a champs tournament.

Let me know if you manage to get it off the ground.

We just had the Tas Champs two weeks ago at Barny Dunes. It was the first ever OZgolf Champs played without handicaps. I beat BenM. Thank you.
