Hi Guys/Girls/Shemales

I am away for a few weeks in June and it’s time to start looking at getting numbers and confirmations for the greatest Champs of them all.

Date: October 18/19/20 2013

Accommodation - Mandurah Holiday Village. I have 4 Villas (sleep up to 4) Booked.

Golf
Please Refer to this Link for Friday golf Details.

This is at Kwinana Golf Club @ 8am

Friday Arvo Skins - Mandurah Golf Club Golf Club. Tee off 3.30 PM Price: $20 or 9 holes.

Saturday Champs Round - Secret Harbour Golf Links -$78.50 with Cart and Lunch. 5 Groups teeing off at 8am. We can enter the PGN comp at this stage if you would like (optional ;-)). This is a really nice course but it’s also public and will be in for a slow day, so please be patient guys. We will make presentations over dinner so the first groups are not hanging around all afternoon.

Sunday Champs Round - Meadow Springs Country Club - $59 or $79 with Cart. 5 Groups teeing off at 8am. It is early but we beat the rush of the members between 11.45 and 1pm. also allows us to get going a bit earlier and perhaps hang around for presentations as people want to get moving back to their families.

Groups will be seeded this year, so if you want a sleep in, play well Saturday ;-)

Both Champs Courses are highly rated and should be a good test with a variety of golf needing to be played.

All Up with both champs rounds and 2 nights accommodation it should come to $217.50 with no carts at Meadow Springs. (Carts are recommended at SH). No prepayment required for the Golf courses (I will require to pay SH on the day, so I will be asking for cash leading up to it). Prize donation will be $25 again.

At this moment, I will need one Nights payment for Mandurah Village ($40) to secure your place, with the rest of the money TBD Later. Will PM Bank Details when I get your interest in this thread. I realise things may change from now to October, but please put your name down and we’ll refund any cash should you have to pull out.

Friday Night – We will probably head into Mandurah and secure a booking at a number of options along the foreshore. Pretty easy walk.

Saturday Night – I think Pizza will be the go again, but will require probably $10 from everyone this year, rather than relying of MegaWatty’s generosity.

Would be great to get some new Wankers to the champs as well as some more Easties making the trip across. Honestly us Wankers don’t bite and I think those that travelled agreed it was a good time had by all.

Good Work Mubbaban, I'm sure it will be fine, organise a birthday party the week before.

Be great to see some new faces along to the champs. Its a FUN weekend with golf, drinks and heaps of laughs. It doesnt matter where you think your game is at, it is a NETT event and plenty of chances of prizes. No one cares what your golf is like, as long as you have good time doing it.

Hell if Ashes can score 5 points in the front 9 in an OG day, anyone can come along.

Ok Guys

The Venue Proposed for Friday and Nullarbor Cup 2 is the

Cottesloe Golf Club.

They have offered us 8 spots under a corporate Package which includes Lunch for $120 per person. This is far and away a bit more than we usually pay for our Champs. I have been told its a little overpriced for what it is, but this is an exclusive Members Track (I think its rated #70 in Australia). We will have the course to ourselves as well as use of the facilities.

I am conscious of the Cost involved so I want to gauge opinion on what peoples thoughts are. The other options are decent tracks for $35-$40 (Options are Kwinana GC or Mandurah GC (Cored greens 4 weeks earlier)).

Lets hear it...

Definitely behind KB, Joondy, Mandurah, Lake K, Bunbury, Kal (from what I have heard) and yeah, I'll say it, The Cut. I wouldn't disagree if you put WAGA ahead of it either. They are pretty similar. Golf Digest rates WAGA 20 spots higher, but I think all those lists are crap, FWIW.

FWIW - I had Lake K set to go, and they were gonna do it for me for a hell of a lot less than Cott, but they have restirected access to members for all of october, aren't allowing recips for the week prior to the Perth International, and as shades said, our champs week is the same week as the International.

We could have got on the week after possibly, but he also suggested they may be looking at coring then as well.

I know you have a soft spot for KB but with its greens it is no where near the conditioning of Cott.
Joondy? Maybe close.
Karinyup? Yes.
The rest aren't in the metro area.

Johnny Canuck
23rd May 2013, 10:08 AM
You specified WA, not metro. WAGA is metro. Joondalup is far better and fantastic greens, right near the top of the list by far, don't put it ahead of The Bay. The Cott layout is nothing exciting and it is another course that has been somewhat "tamed" by technological advancements in golf.

I voted for Mandurah for the 18, if it's there I can afford to do the morning and arvo rounds, but if people vote for Cottesloe for the morning 18, I'll just meet you all for the arvo 9 holes. Still plenty of golf over the weekend so I don't mind missing 18/63 holes.

It was an easy 9 hole track that we can have a bit of fun at.

JC and I are working on a few things to make the arvo a little bit of fun and with the TAB and Pub there is a perfect way to wind down ready for the next day.

It May move yet if we play further South. Perhaps somewhere like Pinjarra.

Put me down for all three days please Shadesy.

Unfortunately I won't be needing accommodation. I know from past experience it's the whole weekend that makes an event like this what it is and not just the golf. But at the moment the best leave pass I'm going to get is to play golf three days in a row and still do some family duties over the weekend.

Veefore
23rd May 2013, 07:06 PM
I like Cottesloe but it's hilly for those who are going to struggle to walk 54 holes in 3 days and at $120 isn't really a good deal.

Wouldn't Glen Iris be a good skins course? I haven't been there for a long time but it really rewards the successful aggressive play and really punishes it too if you get it wrong while still giving you a chance if you chose the more conservative route.

I'm out for that.

Shadesy
24th May 2013, 12:43 PM
Stableford - Stroke is my dream, but not possible with the varying players across the board.

You will need a AGU official handicap to be able to Win the Champs, but it does not stop you from Joining in. The Handicap committee can be quite tough...

It looks as though the Cut is the peoples choice. I am awaiting a price from them. there Coring is in the middle of September so I would not expect amazing greens there.

Doesn't apply to awesome golfers like you obviously, but for me, whether the greens are good or bad there won't determine whether I have a good round or not.

I'll have between 32 and 38 putts. Could have anywhere from say 50 and 80 shots getting to the greens.

Forced carries and topped drives are a bitch of a combo.

Funny you say that, I think we do actually stop around mandurah for the night. Fantastic. We'll make it a night you won't remember.

Fantastic. We'll make it a night you won't remember. Won't be much chance of any alcohol hitting my body when having to back up a 100km+ day with another 100km+ on the Sunday...

Wow a bit has happened since I have been away with several Regulars not committing this year. Hoping we can still pick up a few in there abscence.

I have got a heap of deposits, Thanks for those that have paid. I will get a payment list organised shortly.

I need these deposits paid by the end of the month, so can we start getting them in.

Cheers

We are in Mandurah. Will be plenty of choices for that type of thing if that's what you're into.
