Is 22 high enough for you to play against me Mububban.
Jesus, I didn't realize we had to play against other people. I'm starting to get a bit nervous about this golf day.
I'd say 22 for me is between realistic and way off depending on the day :D I tend to shoot dot on 100 around "nicer/harder" course layouts and low-mid 90s for generous public courses. Only broken 90 twice ever and that was at Hill View (easy as). It's the bunkers on better courses that kill me!

Yessss, I've found my opposition, unless there is someone else there that is a smidge higher than 22. I'm going to struggle big time with grass greens, I haven't played one in ages. 2 weeks ago I played at Pinny with a cousin and I had 100+ and both times at THE CUT, I shot 112 and 115. So ill guess ill see how I go, no mid to low 90's for me like my home track I guess, but no raking the sand on every put either.

When I was a young junior I had a worse temper than now (astonishing I know!) but played one day with a middle aged lady. I was very calm, very reserved and really held myself together well, muttering only the occasional swear word under my breath.
I finished the round and a few minutes later the captain pulled me into his office. He told me that the lady had complained about my language.
I was flabbergasted! I didn't think there was any way she could have heard any of the naughty words I had said!
It turns out she didn't. The one she complained about was when I hit my ball out of bounds on 16 and said "Bugger!" in no more than a normal conversational tone.
I didn't bother holding back next time I played with her. Got a wink from the captain that day, before he had to "officially" give me what for.
Fun times.

I'd be keen ... as usual. More golf the better.
As an idea, extended betting:
Within group
Winners for 9s and Match (stableford or matchplay)
With bits (50c) going to Beyond Blue.
NTPs,Long drive, Ferrets, Sandies, any others to be thought of.
If we have multiple groups, the group that raises the highest bits gets $1 from every player outside that group to split between them.

I have purposely left off any Saturday Golf for this reason. With Lunch also provided after Secrets as well, I thought it would be a good chance to sit and relax and have a beer without having to rush off for the next golf appointment. I wouldn't expect the last group in till about 2.30-3 and food can take a while there.
Happy to leave it open for those that want to play on Saturday (I would have a game for sure), but nothing official has been booked.
KB is just down the road but they want you done by 6, Mandurah and Pinjarra also options.

from a conversation had with a client only last week, the deal is all but done in respect to Maylands. It will undergo some serious renovations/redesign/redevelopment, and be under full control of Burswood (re: Packer) by 2017.
He didn't know if it will be a private access course once they have control, or if it will be a public access arrangement.
I did read the other day though that a developer (Qube comes to mind, but I might be mistaken) is looking at Araluen in line with an expansion and/or development program. As I understood it, the view was to bring in another international type tournament.....
this will be on the City of Bayswater council minutes if any deal is done

Im not having a go here - but what do u describe as nicer/harder courses?
As OMS said, best u get some bunker practice in. The Cut and Secrets have fairways that require either long bunker carry's, or will run your ball into them, and Meadow Springs have bunkers that are as big as some par 3's on a few holes (exaggerated for effect).

Mubbs...Apart from generally being not good at golf I used to struggle a lot with bunkers at nicer courses.
Without knowing what your exact problem is and assuming you mean bunkers around the greens...
If you find you can basically blade **** out of it or you pick it clean and hit it way too far I would ask if you are using your sandwedge? A normal sandwedge in a set will be like 12-14* of bounce. It's just too much bounce for most better courses bunkers (typically much firmer than public courses bunkers) and if you are trying to lay the club open it just gets worse.
Make sure you have a gap wedge or a lobbie with around 8* and you'll probably get more reliable results IME.
Of course if you just can't hit it out of a fairway bunker you are ****ed :)

What time is the last group teeing off?
I was exaggerating a bit, reckon about 5hrs or so given we're off from 8 and won't have a heap of public groups in front.
PGN comp groups start from 7 and its stroke play for October though...

I personally find it enjoyable to play with apparent 'low markers' who play almost exclusively at Maylands. I find it even more enjoyable when i beat them on gross, even when im not having a good day. They will then normally follow with a 'goat track' comment or some such.
So good on you by sticking by your morals - even if it means you'll lose convincingly.

I think Rubin is more concerned that some golfers (most likely Rubin) will take many, many shots, and a lot of time, to find a fairway and get off the tee. Last year I saw a PGN player take 6 shots off the tee at Secrets before finding the fairway.

The give the Comp a miss was highlighting the fact that PGN are reluctant for us to enter there comp and it will take a bit of Convincing to get us into the comp. Time I don't have at the moment.
The Golf Course itself does no offer a comp as its a public course, so we will be applying for an outside agency (the irony of PGN not letting in members) to allow us to play comp.
The fact its Stroke in what will now be around a 6 hour round, just made me not have the effort. If anyone would like to write to the PGN and request that we play in their comp, I will be more than happy to play in it.
Champs will be STABLEFORD though.

I'll contact them and gauge their opinion. if they make it difficult - we won't worry about it.
The fact that there will be 4 or 5 blokes from PGN playing in this should sway them somewhat.

If anyone would like to write to the PGN and request that we play in their comp, I will be more than happy to play in it.Champs will be STABLEFORD though.I am non plussed about anchors, I trust most WAnkers in our OG community. anchors are only needed for those easties that sandbag for champs. Shades, I've already contacted them and been given an in-principle thumbs up. If anyone wants to be in the comp, they'll need to pm me with their name and golf link number prior, and pay their $7 comp fee on the day.
I have broached the topic of getting any winnings donated instead of the usual vouchers, which sounds like it may be a possibility.

I liken my golf game to diarrhoea - shitty but fast. If I shoot 90 or 115, I won't keep you waiting, but it might be sloppy, and stink to be around.
I'll have to be allocated a handicap for the weekend, only got 4 weekends left between now and champs, and I'm unlikely to get out for more than one or two quick 9s in that time, if that.
According to Golfshot:
- last 20, +21.1
- Last 10, +22.2
- Last 5, +18
But that's at Marangaroo, Hill View, Hamersley, Altone so take that for what it's worth. Shot 100 and 101 on my two trips to Vines Ellenbrook as a guide.

The USGA slope rating of a golf course is a mark that describes the measure of difficulty for a bogey golfer relative to a scratch golfer at a specific set of tees. It describes the fact that when playing on a more difficult course, the scores of higher-handicapped players will rise more quickly than those of lower handicapped golfers.
Awesome :D Should be quite the (humbling) experience!
A slope rating is computed from the difference between the bogey rating and the USGA course rating. A golf course of standard playing difficulty has a slope rating of 113, and slope ratings range from a minimum of 55 (very easy) to a maximum of 155 (extremely difficult).
So both those courses (138 and 131) will be a helluva test.
Slope Rating for The Cut - 140
rated only behind J'lup - Quarry/Dunes @ 141
Even awesomer. Bring it on!!!

Yeah. I got talked in to going back to motocross by a friend who never left the sport. I bought a classic (1989) suzuki RM250 a restored it over the last few months.
My first official club day on it and as I was taking a different line to overtake a slower bike I hit a partially uncovered tree root. The bike slammed me down so fast I didn't even know I was crashing until I was digging a groove in the gravel with my head and shoulders.
I also broke at least 2 ribs but probably 3. They found the 2 ribs in the shoulder Xray but never Xrayed the rest and I've got more lower down that feel just like the broken ones.

And it's not my fantasy Ashes. You're the one gonna be thinking about it tonight as you catch some shut eye. :)
Just watched The Human Centipede 2. Don't think I'll be sleeping tonight.

If anyone can contact her let her know I've sent her pm please. We need this gear.

PM's sent about outstanding Payments.
For the Record RE; Accommodation.
It has worked out to be about $68 per person for the 2 Nights. I have asked for $70 from each person. This was just to make sure I have enough coverage and make it a nice round number. Also we have 17 each night so one Room will sleep 5.
Any leftover I can either pool for the pizza night, or drinks or donate it to the tin. I will let you know what's left over at the end. If you want your $2 back then let me know.
Can you please get the money across to me ASAP I need to pay by the end of next week.
Cheers

No probs. Walking it is! If you want me to call them and change the booking just PM me with who has pulled out. Otherwise, see you for 9.28.
And by the way, I'm not black, so there will be no stroking off involving me.

I think his cap is fine. Played some really good golf at times though - few bad holes here and there but that's to be expected considering it was his first comp round (and stroke play to boot).
