Poor Rob. He's not having the greatest of seasons. A 2 over par round this morning in the Zurich Classic leaves him T125 after one round and unlikely to make the cut or add to his FedEx Cup total of 1.

A few of the pro's had bailed as they were delayed the day before at a tour event. Robert made a special effort to get there apparently.

A few of the pro's had bailed as they were delayed the day before at a tour event. Robert made a special effort to get there apparently. Another time my son stood on his ball in the rough on the 10th hole during the last round of a pro event at RQ. Robert was in contention and had a decent crowd following him. My son was only 4 at the time and broke from the pack and tronced on his ball. Things got heated when someone said Tom was a stupid f^cking kid and an exchange of non pleasantries proceeded. Robert turned up in the middle of this and said no worries it's an innocent mistake, took a drop and played on.

I followed Allenby in a practice round for a while at the Grand, chatted with his dad a bit, and looked like he had a few friends walking around with him.

He seemed to have a rather 'blunt' personality i thought, which was pretty funny at times! Though I can see how some sensitive people might get their noses out of joint with someone like that.

Police already said his credit card was used a few times. And his injuries don't look like someone who fell over to me.
The only contradiction in his story is that he said he was dumped 10k away, and the lady said she found him near his hotel.

It seems implausible someone would have made a kidnap story up, especially the 10km bit, when he could have also just said he was bashed and robbed.

I reckon Robbie's just got utterly smashed and a couple of homeless have taken advantage of that (when he ventured further afield) and got his card et al. The bird that "saved" him apparently thought they had and was trying to get his crap back off them. Don't doubt one bit things then unfolded as said, carried on like a pork chop fell on rock etc. Someone got his card as they have them on film spendng up. I think it's close to this simple.

jimandr
27th January 2015, 10:06 AM
At the price he was paying at the bar he should have been encouraged to touch the merchandise in order to keep spending. He was clearly buying them drinks, and they have expensive tastes.

I can only assume he was attempting the Top Shelf Challenge.

My other observation is that if this is the way he spends his money after missing the cut, what does he do if he wins things?

Anyway, Allenby's credibility is shot. Maybe his credit card was nicked and used, but he'll be lucky to recover from this. Unless he totally comes clean at his press conference he'll be hounded by the press every time, and the hecklers at Aussie tourneys will have a field day. If I was a sponsor, I'd be dropping him like a stone.

By most accounts he is a jerk, but in his prime he was a really good golfer. I think this might be the end for him, and it is a really bad way to end a good career.

I feel sad for Rob and his kids! Not as big a fw as some here might suggest. This is what happens when you dont have a decent manager and this is his biggest mistake here. The rest happens each week on tour when palyers miss cuts it usually the same outcome a few cheap working girls or strays, a few beers , one or two having a few more than should and someone having a ripper of a story for the practice range on the Tuesday morning. It just that this one has got out of the bag! A little PGA gardening vaction is next for RA imo!

I went home straight away as something didn't feel right. I slept until 4pm the next day and woke up with really bloodshot eyes and a severe stabbing pain in the back of my head, I later found out that some girls had been spiking drinks for "fun" that night and taking money off people and were caught by police later that night.
