Handicap vs Lowest Played To

I currently have the strange situation where my current handicap (8.4) is the same as my lowest flagged round of 8. I understand that it is because my flagged rounds are all within a small range (a spread of 2) but this does seem a bit harsh. Especially since it is mathematically possible to have a handicap that you have never played to. I credit my consistency, I suppose.
FWIW my best round in the last 4 years is playing to 6, and best ever is 4. Yep, I win plenty of comps. :roll:

I'm interested in seeing what sort of flagged round spread other OZgolfers have and if you have had the same situation or similar with your handicap.

Fixed it as you posted. I had a 23 flagged a month ago. I may be getting better.

BTW, played Ellenbrook this morning with a 5-ball, including Zeus and Nuffie. Just under 3.5 hours without rushing. Overtook a four ball in buggies by three holes at the end of 18.

It was amazing how many times we were on the fairway and greens together. Wish it was like that on a comp round.

does an anchor not come in play until 20 cards are in? and then you cannot balloon past 4 shots higher than that anchor?

Ive tried too many drivers the past 2 years its hurting me.
Also we have long par 3's, im terrible with the 4/5 irons and only threw a Hybrid in to replace my 3 iron prob 2 years ago, and i cant hit that either....:cry:

I have a played to 9 and 12 dropping off in the next two rounds. Scores that are currently there to replace them are two played to 21's. So assuming that I don't play better than that (more than probable) my handicap would be 16.5 on quick calcs so I could be 'anchored' for a long period.

I think some of the above is showing that the handicap isn't really an indicator of form. By that I mean, when you say you play off 8, it does not mean that you play to or beat that score on a regular basis.

Some have a small spread of scores, while others can shoot low, but also have very bad rounds for their flags, but it end up being the same number for the handicap.

Ditto Canberra. A lot less roll in winter, and the ball doesn't fly anywhere near as far in 3 degrees to 30 degrees. Its funny watching all the juniors who have brought their caps down over summer fall into a pile of crap over winter when it gets harder again.

Opposite up here. Summer is the worst. Ball doesn't fly as far in high humidity/ rain, and is more likely to plug than bounce. Lost balls in the fairway isn't uncommon. We almost had to take relief from casual water on one of the greens on Saturday.

It's usually a bitterly cold south-wester too, meaning some players are rugged up in 5 layers of clothing.
