Well I got up at 6 to watch tiger win and regain the world number 1 ranking only to find that play is suspended for bad weather. Tiger has regained his putting and looks unstoppable atm and it is good to watch.

From pgatour.com

"Two holes later, the horn sounded. McGirt said Garcia handed him the scorecard and said, "I'm out of here." Garcia earlier had taken a 9 on the par-5 sixth hole."

Did anyone watch the Malaysian open yesterday and see that player top an iron into the water hazard then hit a shank? He went from about -9 to finish even unfortunately I can't find a video of it:)

I don't know why people say this based on this win. He was spraying his tee shot all over the place and looking at his stats, he only made fairways 53.6% of the time. I looked at Rickie, and I thought, he played very well besides the crucial triple bogey. Tiger was fading and pushing his ball the whole day. I didn't see the dominance that the Tiger of old used to have, he just managed to putt decently well. Which I suppose, in itself, says quite a bit. Tiger on a bad day can't be beat by anyone else on a good day.

PeteyD
26th March 2013, 03:12 PM
He has won 3 tournaments this year and is back to world #1. That would seem to indicate that he is heading back to the dominance he had, hence the more like the old tiger now.

He had a good win but was helped to a certain degree by fowler's bad triple and rose's bad 3rd round. It would be good to see how he goes when those players in contention don't faulter when the pressures on.

I didn't watch golf at the time Tiger was dominant. Has he always been wayward with the driver?

If so, it wouldn't seem to matter when his short game and putter are on fire.

Spot on, the guy has made more putts when he needed too than anyone else of his generation

The commentators were saying that, when Tiger was at his best he averaged 72% of fairways hit vs mid 60's now. So it is his short game that does it.

Yeah, but everyone is hitting less fairways. And I think his misses in general over the last year have been better than previously.

Only tiger gets criticised when winning tournaments back to back.

Is he as good as he was in his prime? Who knows.

Is he better than everyone else? Yes.

As he has been so far ahead of his peers, he isn't even the yardstick that the others can measured up to. He end up being measured against himself.

Type of play. Bomb and gauge.

Heres some PGA tour stats on driving accuracy.

2001 - number of players over 70% fairways for the year - 69

2012 - number of players over 70% fairways for the year - 5

2013 - so far number of players over 70% - 8, and I think they're all short hitters.

I was watching the coverage and commentators bagging Tiger has gotten beyond a joke. There was one stage there in the final round, he was leading by 4 and all the commentators could talk about his faults and the shots he can't hit. The only reason fowler got close cos he made some bombs for birdie. His ball striking wasn't better than tiger's.

It's just a big media beat up as Tiger is one of the few players of all time that they will show almost every shot of every round so he is going to miss a few shots. They will then compare tiger's stats or swing with someone who is having a career week.

Even last year, he played well and won 3 times playing the most difficult courses with the deepest fields. He also was 3rd in scoring ave on the PGA Tour which is not bad for a crappy year.

Fkn well said - it is beyond a joke.

He is smashing the field over 72 holes because the other guys cant play 72 holes like he can. Rose was 6 ahead at -13 and faltered and no one else could pull off the shots.

It was a bloody hard golf course and Tiger smashed them. But every bad shot... was met with utter drivel. He cant do this and he cant do that. Is he back? Can he win majors? He had 2 bogeys today, maybe he is finished...

FFS - it just was a bunch of Muppets trying to stir something up.

I was streaming it and the english guyswho where hosting it where like look how dominate he is. The US commentators are like if he is crap....he he bogies a few more holes and the other guys make more birdies....looks like he is shakey.

On of the funniest ones is when they sre talking about keagan playin so well bu couldn't pull within 4 shots of tiger. I think he finished 3rd but was never in eith a chance.

Bring on the masters I say.

You've got a point. I'm a (present day) knocker but even i would be shocked if he can't pull one, or even more off this year. Call me bizarre but i think being publically attached again and partnered up is a sign he's at a decent place mentally and is on the up to where he needed to be.

The USA commentators are at it again. Keagan Bradley is on fire this year as he had 3 top 10 in a row and 4 in total this year. Obviously not winning is much netter than winning 3 times!!!
