Just got a pair of Geox which are an Italian inspired lace up casual of quality leather and suede with a breathable waterproof rubber sole. Good quality and happy so far, not sure whether to put the leather conditioner on them yet maybe further down the track.

I wear them every day and have only slipped a tiny bit once and that was when changing oil in a commercial fryer. Wore my first pair out after 4 years of daily use and have bought two more pairs. One is a backless number;)
