Nice one - lets hope his putting can get better so he can support them more.

It's easy to forget about the caddies when all the attention is on the players. I wonder how much the average caddy makes on tour? Not sure if tiger would do this but I could be wrong.

Isn't average pay between 5% and 7.5%?
So whatever the pro earned, that percentage.
A pro hovering around the 125 mark earns around $700,000 so his caddy probably made around $35,000 to $40,000 dependant on top 20's & top 10's etc.

I think I read somewhere recently that they get about $1000/week plus a percentage of the prize and the higher the finish the higher the percentage.

I think the weekly figure is for the caddy's for the better players. I doubt those outside the top 100 would be able to afford to pay them 1000 a week + 7% of the winnings, plus live on their own.

I believe that is the old system, a lot of them are on fixed money now.

It varies greatly depending on a player. As markTHEblake said many are on a fixed amount for the year, and most get a weekly payment between 1000 and 5000. They also get a percentage of prizemoney agreed upon, this percentage varies depending on the amount they receive per year. I'm certain the top players cadies are on a much better wicket than most. We always hear of players struggling to survive but rarely the caddies, great work Garrigus.

Tigers old caddie done alright, he was the highest earning sportsman in NZ, and he was only a caddie.

I can't believe the tour hasn't looked after the caddies in a more official capacity before this!
All the money that is out there and garrigus looks to be an exception rather than the rule for picking up his caddy's tab.
I swear to god some of the players on tour couldn't take a dump without their caddy telling them if the aim is right.

Good work Garrigus. Hopefully a few of the higher earning pros jump on board as well.

Disagree. He's trying to cleanse his soul after falling to the dark side with the long putter.

Did you respect him more when he was using the 28.5" kiddy putter?

Of course. No temptation to cheat and anchor a short putter.

This made me laugh trying to picture him anchoring that tiny putter he used to have
