Driver parks on a road facing in the wrong direction $44.

On a road? - is the footpath considered the road in that offence?

I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed to park on the footpath at all.

What Jarro said. Can't have tyres on gutter etc as far as I know.

Yep, road and road related area (footpath).

There is actually a specific offence for parking on a footpath $44

and for parking on a naturestrip $44.

I would think the footpath would be safer for motorists than the road? If you had a wide footpath and a small car it wouldn't pose a hazard to pedestrians either.

What is the difference between a footpath and nature strip?

Are you serious? Fully park on the road?

What is the difference between a footpath and nature strip?

Footpath - An actual footpath of some description (concrete / bitumen etc)

Nature Strip - grassed area or other between road and land boundary.

Concrete vs grass

Was she drunk when she parked it, or just being "female"?

Pretty sure in Qld we don't use the term nature strip

Is the driveway safe to park in?

Only if it is your own.

Generally in my experience, the above 'type' of tickets are generally issued as a result of someone making a complaint about the way a vehicle has been parked.

Think of it like this - Where would a person in a wheelchair had to go? If the answer is "on the road" you haven't got much to complain about.

Isn't parking in your driveway across the footpath illegal? Since the footpath and nature strip are considered council land, I assumed it was.

You can park anywhere except across the footpaths in Canberra. Nature strips are carparks. Keeps the roads clear. I reckon its sensible!

There would have been room for at least two wheelchairs to get past - although I don't think will help much...

I believe that is correct Andy.

Reminds me of Perci this thread.

He got booked for parking on his nature strip a couple of times from memory.

So he told them that if he can't park there and its not his, then they can maintain it and mow it.

Now the council comes out to Perci's house of golf and mow his nature strip!
