Victorian Brad Hodge may have just played his way into the starting eleven for the 2nd Test in Hobart next week after hitting 177 in 178 balls against the West Indies in Melbourne today. A few minutes ago Victoria were 3/288.

4/360 after 75 overs now. They are smashing them all over the place.

I'm going to this tour game on Sunday. My daughter is doing the Milo Have-a-go demonstration during lunch.

I am slowly converting her from girly-girl to start having a whack with a bat. Hopefully a golf club will be next.

If today is any indication you could be in for a run-fest over the weekend. Hope your daughter does well in the have-a-go demo. Enjoy the day.

The one Victorian currently in the side is an absolute star. Surely it's not that much of a risk including another one....or two.

...So.....Cam White's on 29 not out, I wonder how much he'll finish with....

Samuels has the only three wickets for the Windies. Now that's gotta be a big worry for them.

What's the point of debuting a 31 year old?

What's the point in debuting a 30 year old in Hussey? Or bringing back a 30 year old one day specialist, who has already failed at test level, in Symonds?
Who can answer?

31 is young.

You wish Blake.

Where was this game played? Albert Park oval? Come on, my toilet bowl is bigger than that park. Didn't a recent ING game tally over 600 runs in 2 innings on that pitch?

Declaring at 5/950 isn't much good in a test match.

Agreed, they are all old farts. They've got to start investing in younger blokes. Phil Jacques is talked about a lot. Good choice - 24 years old, and from NSW. Gets my vote, Mr Crankypants.

Where was this game played? Albert Park oval?

It's the Junction Oval. Comparable to Nth Sydney in size I believe.

Not that large then ;)

I'm back from the Junction Oval. It was a large crowd. Aproaching 2000 to my untrained eyes and a load of happy kids. A large West Indian contingent there too and some reggae and talcum soul played between overs. Not just hot chips, but chicken with beans and rice being sold from the tent.

Which was all in stark contrast to the action in the middle which plodded along at a snails pace. Chanderpaul made a gritty 50 but the rest formed a slow procession. The Milo kids were 10 times more exciting.

The Windies had a net session during lunch. They had a pretty handy net bowler in the form of Courtney Walsh who was there. Courtney was making a big effort to sign as much as he could an there were hundreds of kids looking for his autograph. Brian Lara sulked around the place as 12th man.

Listening on the radio I hear they are putting up an impromptu 20/20 game. So they should given the support that was there at the ground.

Hodge and Symonds have been confirmed starters for tomorrows match.

MacGill and Bracken have a nervous wait until tomorrow morning to see if they've grabbed the last spot in the side ..... i'm kinda leaning towards Bracken 'cos i don't rate MacGill at all. He's only good at taking wickets at the end of an innings.

What's the point of debuting a 31 year old?
whats the point of persisting with a 24 year old who doesn't score any runs?

Dont rate Symonds as a bowler, so I am very surprised. Bracken will miss out as they will go with 2 spinners for adelaide.

Clarke will be back. He just needs to learn how to score runs again

What's so bad about Symonds bowling Grant :? I think the fact that he can bowl spin AND medium pacers is a real bonus .. depending on t he wicket they play on at the time.

He's worth his weight in gold in the field too.

But he is not test standard Jarro, one day maybe but not test standard to be classed as a 1st change bowler.
