I AM OUT....... THERE IS NO WAY I AM GOING TO THE GOLD COAST ON SCHooLIES WEEK ANYTHING BUT OFF MY FACE..... Been there, done that... Annoying little *****!!

In all seriousness boys... Those of you looking to play up, becareful. In my experience the coppers have a zero tolerance for stupid behaviour by "toolies" and it is easy to end up in the tank. Stuff they normally wouldn't even care about, gets you belted across the knuckles. It is a good chance to flog a few kids though, especially the ones with straight brims and big mouths.

Too expensive mate as they're governed by what they charge their members, and I've got people there. Either Mercure (Rado) or my place (Crowne Plaza) which I'm a little hesitant about being work and all. It will be slightly cheaper, closer to Broadie and I should be able to get us a function room. Plus our tee times are a little later so ample time to get to the course each morning.

Just a thought. Perhaps it should be a condition of OZgolf championships that entrants should have to enter the club comp of the day, if there is one.

Of course this may not appeal to certain types.

So people are handicapped accordingly. So hole in ones actually count.

Shut up and win the gross.

PeteyD
18th February 2013, 01:21 PM
I think it has been determined by the HIO troll that OzGolf champs HIOs count.

I guess the big question is Why Shamus?

And what do you mean handicapped accordingly? The rounds count towards your handicap after the event? If that is a big issue we can get Ben T to put them in as a comp.

Marto65
18th February 2013, 01:51 PM
I imagine that he means that every half serious round of golf someone has should be handicapped accordingly.

I think there were 5 or 6 guys yesterday who didnt enter the comp at Moonah Legends. In hindsight, they probably should have.

PeteyD
18th February 2013, 01:54 PM
That is the way this handicap system should be heading.

WBennett
18th February 2013, 02:09 PM
I entered golflink cards for the three possible rounds down here. If you are trying you may as well make it count and be handicapped accordingly.

Captain Nemo
18th February 2013, 02:12 PM
Id have no qualms entering the comp.
Every round i play, whether knocking around after work, or a social round with mates, i play as if im playing in a comp anyway.
I remember playing in the Misti Masters on the Goldy a few years back, all 4 rounds where adjusted via Golflink, and updated before the next rounds play.
My 2cents.

So people are handicapped accordingly. So hole in ones actually count.

I don't see any downside to this to be honest, unless you want to keep your handicap unchanged for some reason. I want mine to be a true reflection of my ability (it's clearly too low right now heh).

What if the club wants to charge you another $10 to $20 to play in the comp?

It wouldn't affect your handicap as its a multi day event your handicap should stay the same as what you started with.

It's not that much money, I'd pay it personally. Each to their own though.

Would we do a champs at a venue where this was the situation? Both times it happened this weekend comp fees were $5.

In the case of the OzGolf comp, it would anyway. It'd only be your official cap that's affected. Same as say, club champs, that'a how it works at my local.

Just a thought. Perhaps it should be a condition of OZgolf championships that entrants should have to enter the club comp of the day, if there is one.

Of course this may not appeal to certain types.

Nice trolling...

Lets hope the champs don't fall on a black marker stroke day...

And let's rule out our few social members with out active hcp or ones not excepted by all clubs. Any females because the course would have to have a medley comp.

If I new everything was serious and had to be hcped I may not have made the trip as I didn't know if I was playing each day with my ankle and Paige.

Lets start enforcing etiquette rules...

No carts it gross that important anyway if your a wanker

slow play...

Smoking in the wrong spots

There were enough dummy spits on the weekend and it was social.

If it was a comp at least you may get a score card that is readable. I wonder if there would be the same marking errors.

There are so many holes in that last post it is hilarious. You are over analyzing things.

Handicaps should reflect form (and that means both up and down). If you play an event under handicap conditions that should affect your handicap.

As was suggested by others, having a social club able to process cards is a very tidy solution.

peter_rs
18th February 2013, 05:28 PM
Sweat let me play off my un anchored form.

Being a 2 day event it would not change in the over all comp just for the days comp.

You're right. It wouldn't affect the 36 hole result. That isn't what we are talking about.

IIRC PeteyD had a great score at Cooly-Tweed last year in the OG Masters. There is no reason why that shouldn't affect his handicap either.

I play at least a dozen 18 hole games each year that aren't handicapped. They also have the best prizes.

Why you don't you leave him alone. He played the best over the two days. Well done to him.

The option is nice to have if count as a comp, but I don't think it should be compulsory. It wouldn't add anything to the event. Players would still get nervous in contention even if they weren't in the comp.

Hux
18th February 2013, 05:52 PM
Okay so if we had to enter into the daily club comp, and we wanted to play black markers in stableford, yet the daily comp was blue markers and an ambrose or some other such event that would not match with our desires it all goes out the door.

We are in essence playing a comp (albiet for peanuts) in our own format, I cannot see why it would need to be in a club comp to "mean" anything to Ozgolf - let's face it the prized Ozgolf Banner denoting your major wins is all the prize anyone really wants isn't it - can we not afford to play 2 or 3 rounds that may not be registered on Ozgolf?

Personally I see no point in paying to enter a club comp - afterall I will not be attending the Ozgolf Champs to play in The Glades or Palm Meadows daily comp but to play in "our" champs.

sms316

Well said...

Entering the daily competition was not a condition of entry for VIC champs and never will be unless its forced upon us by the course of the day.

End of discussion for me. The guy who played best on Saturday & Sunday took home the choccies which were thoroughly deserved.

Do you know how I know you have the Ghey....?

(Hint: this time it is not your driver swing!)

Alignment sticks were used in a pinch last year. The ceiling indicated that this was not a perfect solution.

Took three washes to get the wine out of my jacket!

Flights, car hire booked!
Might need to put the feelers out closer to the date for anyone on the Goldy to borrow some kids booster seats?

F'me!
Shavey couldnt organise a bottle opener in his own joint!!!!
Ok, screw tops will be mandatory....

It was late or early depending on how you look at it. The cork was snapped (and deep - no homo) from memory and way down. Needless to say, Lucasto has learnt his lesson and is banned from sommelier duties for all future champs!

Titty, I'll PM my address details but can't promise how much will be left by the time the champs arrive :)

Marto, you suck just as much as Courty on Words for Friends. DC on the other hand is a worthy opponent.

Shaver shavey shavey.....

You had a 70 point lead. You currently are down 19 points. You've started using 'words' like Aw and pe and Howe.

You're a desperate man. In desperate times. You are probably going for the anagram maker as I type.

Maybe you should confine yourself to playing against popper.

Look at you, winning something ( **** knows what you are playing) and telling all and sundry that you are winning. That is so unlike you, Peter.

Do you feel like a big man? With big kahunas? I hope this is feeding your need to better than the rest. ( I would love to know what it is, you are actually compensating for ;) )

I shudder to think what the 'Marto rule' might look like in terms of a game of Words With Friends...haha..

I have met Jarro. Whilst he lacks height there is no chance of fitting him into a baby seat.
