I'll weigh into a public thread after Marto's PM box was full (no homo). Going for the triple threat here folks for score, shanks and sand.

Score
Shot 102 at The Grand over the weekend in quite 'warm' conditions. Bogey golf for the first two and I was pretty happy scrambling from under and around trees. And then shit got seriously bad! 9 penalties, 9 wipes and I managed 21 points. And when I finally did hit a fairway, I decided to back that up with a shank. First time I have raised the bat in my current Golflink history. Whilst close previously, never EVER this bad!

Whilst not official, I will lodge a count of 7. Scariest thing of all, these were full shots and not the usual stuff around the green.

Sand

I did 3 bunkers in a row today at Reddie Bay today and almost walked off with a par. Par 5 14th, Tee shot 3W into LH side fw bunker. 2nd shot 7i 135m into fw bunker on the corner. 3rd shot 7i into bunker in front of green, Splashed out to about 15 feet and missed the putt.

On the contrary. The devastation of Bundaberg is depressing. A friend moving a major birthday party forward 6 months (due to the big C) is depressing.

Taking Wednesday mornings off work to play golf, and shooting 12 over par (instead of 10), should not be depressing.

Balls were from stroke rounds, where you only have to shoot within 2 of your cap (or 4 on wet days) or 2BBB, where my partners say that I'm a calming influence on their normally erratic game.

The wine is a Wednesday side-bet - generally five players put in $5 each and best two scores select a bottle from a wholesaler mate. (Or best 3 from 7, or best 1 from 3, depending on work commitments.) Generally, only need 33-34 points to snare the last bottle.

The Superpin is a $3 winner-take-all sweep run by the pro-shop. It takes a certain skill to hit a 4 hybrid from 143 metres to 28cm.
