Good course to complete the set. Hire clubs are all Taylor Made R9's and cost is 400RMB ,which is about $70.

Budweiser at about $3.40 at the southern courses. Nice.

35 Pts around Reddy Bay. Another great front 9 and crap back 9. 4 over round the front, including a 5 for a wipe on the short par 3 after 3 putting the sand save. 5/7 FWY and 3 greens on the front. Started the back double double, sort of recovered to be 6 over through 6, then went double double again! (Including a 3 putt sand save on par 3 16th ... ffs).

87 off the stick, no birdies, 32 putts with the 2 three putts, 7 fairways, 4 greens. 8 pars, 5 Bogeys and 5 doubles.

Frustrating as hell.

46 points yesterday in my first event win. Had 93 off the stick. I was so happy, all the hard work is starting to pay off. No birdies, 5 pars were the highlight of the game. 14/18 fairways was the main reason I think, driver was going great.

popper81
18th January 2013, 11:16 PM
Didn't sign.... Started 9, 6, 5, 6 and was playing 5 from the hazard on the next, when ended up against concrete. After taking a big chunk out if wedge last week decided not to risk it. The red mist had descended & the drop zone was about 70m behind me, so I threw it in front. Would have easily raised the bat. Rick played pretty well, and shot 90 with a 10 in there. Before anyone gets high & mighty I suggest you play it. I will play next month, and if I have less that 90 I will celebrate. The greens were in the best knick I have seen them.

Wow, nice round Shane! Gotta love a PB.

Funny old day today for me. Shot 79/72 nett but didn't feel I gave it my best. Went 6 over round the front 9 with some pretty poor ball striking and a couple of 3 putts. Turned it around to shoot 1 over round the back, though the ball striking wasn't much better, I scrambled like mad, and missed a couple of makeable putts on 16 and 17 which would've improved it even more.

Still, playing to the 'cap when not playing at 100% is always nice... stats. (http://golfshot.com/rounds/detail/18-14724086-14724117)

H/cap Change: Down 0.2 to 8.1.

For the first 13 holes of this round, there was some sloppy golf. The driving was fine, but my brain seemed to be asleep and I made dumb decisions on several occasions. I struggled with the pace of the greens too, and was racking up plenty of putts.

Then I birdied 18 (my 14th hole) with a good approach and putt, then blitzed the rest of the round, missing an easy putt for bird on 1, punching out from the trees to the green and a bird on 2, a great up and down on 3 for par and sliding the birdie putt on 4 just past. I had 2 under (15 points) in the last 5 holes to not only make my score respectable but make the round a counter for golflink.

I want to get out midweek like I used to for a few holes or some practice like I was last year, but work and the weather has been getting in the way. With no kids at home this week, I hope to get the short game that Mt Warren Park ruined back.

Next round: I'm hosting some OZgolf lads at Wolston Park on Sunday the 27th. 1st Tee thread to come.

Shot a 78 gross today at The Vines off 6.

5 birdies
11 bogeys
No doubles, others or wipes.
30 putts

It felt good to shot in the 70s again for the first time since mid nov. No practice this week helped as for a change I was swinging it much smoother and not expecting too much. I've decided now that the chipping and 4-12ft putts is whats worth focusing on, coz whether the long game is on or slightly off, the short stuff makes all the difference everytime.

Second decent hit out after a decent break.

Should have read the warm up thread. Started wipe, wipe, then proceeded to knock out 8 points over the next 4 holes finishing the 9 with a bird. :)

Had a pie, and a beer (SMS style) and then had 19 points on the back 9, including 1 bird, and 1 eagle (par 5 15th, it only measured 446m to the flag today, so really a long par 4).

Happy to finish up with a decent 9 and the bugs slowly starting to come back. No 3 putts, and had quite a few one putts which is also helping a bit.

Not sure when the next round is yet.

Back from a family holiday down the South East where I managed to slip in a couple of games. One on the Sunday at Millicent and the other at the Blue Lake course on Monday which I'd never played before. Score for that round in separate thread.

Left the Titleist 910 D3 at home and took the Taylormade R11s to give it a go with the RIP alpha x flex shaft and swapped the 10gm weight in the heel for a 20gm weight. The R11s was better with this combo but I still felt like I was wrestling for control.
First round at Millicent was a little frustrating as I got off to a poor start. Drilled the first driver on the par 5 straight and through the corner not knowing the yardage to the end of the dog leg. Got it out to around the 150m mark only to come up short for my third. Miss judged yardage to an elevated green and couldn't make the up and down.
Next hole I took a triple after hitting a big block cut into the bracken fern (no point looking, lost ball and snake country). Second attempt was gun barrel straight and in the centre of the fairway. Another elevated green saw me airmail this one and another failed attempt to get up and down from a difficult spot. The next few holes were much the same with loose drives but managed a few pars on the card. Didn't hit my first fairway until the 8th and backed that up on the 9th and made birdie after putting the next 12 foot away.
The back nine started well with a hit fairway and solid fairway wood to 30m from the green. Put the sand iron to 2" to make an easy birdie. Only had one ineffective tee shot with the driver on the back nine. Still struggled with the pitching and chipping as I couldn't get myself to drop the ball in a bit shorter and allow for the extra run out than what I get a home. The greens were a slightly firmer and quicker than home, but so true it was a pleasure to putt on.
As the driver was so poor on the front I played a second ball at the same time using the Titleist 3 wood. I wanted to see if I would get more balls in play than I was currently gaming with the Driver. The wash up, I was no better off at getting the tee shots consistently into play with that over the driver.
