Hussey out for 1 early. Beaten for pace really to sky a top edged pull to the keeper.

Windies are bowling quite full so far. Not like the days of old when you had Holding, Marshall, Ambrose, Walsh et al spending the first hour or so giving nothing but rib-ticklers.

I'm sure Hodge would have scored a lot less.

Good to see that Hayden has knuckled down with his batting now, as opposed to full on aggression. He's got a nice little run going at international level, even though his domestic form has still been woeful.

Looks like there is a good chance that I will be seeing Warney bowl on Saturday. :D

Katich and Clarke simply are not up to it in my opinion -probably least impressive given his age is Katich.

Katich reached an average of 60 versus india in 2003/04. 16 tests later his average stands at 37 -that is some slump.

Clarke reached an average of 151 on debut. 18 tests later his average stands at 38 -that is also some slump.

Gilly was given out LBW.

More stats.

Katich has averaged 30 over his last 27 innings since his average hit 60.

Clarke has averaged 27 over his last 18 innings since his average hit 60.

These are not long term test kinda numbers.

It's better to make 3 than making 13, or 20+ and not going on with it. Katich played a terrible shot, and Clarke still has it in his head that he has to play every ball dished up.

Watson is the odd man out in this team. Symonds should be in that spot.

i'm not really sure why the powers that be feel they need to find the next Freddie Flintoff of Australian cricket, when we have him already .... Brett Lee 8) This guy's batting technique is bloody good, and we know how good a bowler he CAN be ..... lets leave Watson out altogether and chuck Symonds in there ..... now that would be a pretty handy test side :D

all out for 435.

great contributions at the end from Warne (47) Lee(47) and Bracken(37)

let's see what the Windies batting lineup can do now

How many times is the tail going to show up the middle order?
McGrath is doing wonders for his average with all these not out innings.

Maybe Lee should become a specialist batter, bowling doesn't seem to work for him too often.

Wish Australia could get a couple of good bowlers to back up Mcgrath rather than the pie chuckers they have at the moment

With the batting of Warne,Lee & Bracken. Would Watson be under pressure? Why do we need an allrounder if they are all batting well? Why not an extra topline bowler (Tait or the like).
I think Lee is a short stint strike bowler not the bowl all day line/length type, he may be better suited to be a 1st change type. Bracken is a good swing bowler when the conditions are right but when it does not fit his game he can be a bit of a pie chucker. Maybe Perth might see 4 quicks + Warnie. When will Tait be fit?

Would Watson be under pressure? Why do we need an allrounder if they are all batting well? seems to be a fair consensus on that issue, however it appears that if we were selectors we would be of the opinion "his time is nigh" or "his s hi t don't stick".

You guys reckon Lee is a pie chucker, what's Watson then ??? :?

Watson is the glamour boy that Cricket wants but he aint got the game in my opinion.

Glenn McGrath yet again, what a bowler, I don't think we realise how good he is.

Jarro

there certainly will be a huge hole in the Aussie attack when McGrath and Warne retire.

Warne is a freak.

Jarro
6th November 2005, 01:47 PM
well, wont be long now before we go 1 up in the series

Windies are 6/105 ... needing another 404 to win    :P

Had a great day at the cricket yesterday, despite the late start to play.

Got what I wanted out of the day, that is, seeing King Warne bowl. Saw him get 4 for bugger all.

The added bonus was Hayden's and Ponting's centuries.
:D

379 run win wrapped up, just as I finished the last post.

How ordinary is the West Indies tail? Especially when you compare it to the Aussie tail.
I'm thinking Bravo will be coming into the WI side for the next test.

Have they got ANY other decent batsman in the squad :?

seems to me they rely wayyy too much on Lara, and he looks out of sorts at the moment.

Missed it all today as I was out in a car show with my PT Cruiser. I switched the radio on and the abc was commentating on the shield game.
