Didn't Freo have another promising kid suffer three knees in three years - Tim Ruffles or something like that from Narranderra, NSW?

ACL's are just unlucky injuries. I feel for Morabito as he looked extremely talented in his debut.

I feel for Morabito as he looked extremely talented in his debut. I rated him highly. After 2 it was unlikely he'd reach his full potential, now it's probably unlikely we'll see him at all.Not sure about Ruffles. Clem Michael could have been anything and was brought undone by his knees.

Geelong have proven you don't need one.

.

have they?

They had the AA CHF in their first premiership year, and in their last flag their FF was basically the difference in the last quarter and in 2009 they had both those blokes + Brad Ottens playing forward.

I don't let Gamblor dictate what I think is or isn't a good game, so I thought it was fine albeit with some sloppy skills that you would expect early on in the season.

It goes without saying that Franklin is overrated. The media overrate many players.

The problem with winning 10 in a row is that none of them will bring back the 08 Grand Final.

Much like Collingwood beating Sydney every year, but when we played them in the Prelim last year, they knocked us out after we had won 14 in a row.

My boss is a Melbourne supporter. She told me her son was in the crowd at the round 1 game amongst some Melbourne reserved seats. Just after the final siren, a bunch of dees fans folded up their scarves and placed them on the seat, with their membership tickets on top before walking out.

Poor dees.

I only saw one minute of the game tonight - Dyson Heppell ran away from a bloke who had no interest in chasing him, kicked a goal and then celebrated like he had just put his side in front one minute before the final siren.

Neeld continues to impress me.

"Jack Watts was ill and (also) subbed out for form," Neeld said. "He didn't feel great, he was sick, and his performance was also one that we thought 'that was enough'. (But) when you take the field you're 100 per cent fit. That's how it works."

I'm a closet Bulldogs fan so this may sound a little biased but dead-****ing-set if the umpiring in that game today wasn't some of the most one-sided crap I've ever seen, then I'll never watch another game in my life.

I never expected us to win (hell I never expected us to get close) but it would be nice if we were given the chance to lose on our own merits instead of the umpires handing the game to Freo in the first ****ing 10 minutes.

Not only did we not get some fairly blatant free kicks in our own forward 50 but then the ball would go down the other end and they would get some of the softest decisions I've ever seen.

This game is becoming a farce with the rules.

I doubt I'll be watching too many games at all this year (admittedly it would be hard to top the 4 I watched last year).

Ashes
7th April 2013, 02:01 AM

Brilliant goal for sure. The torp, the hurdle and the bomb. Beautiful stuff.

I know that the opposition hasn't been amazing, but I can at least be a little bit positive about Port this year. We look like we can actually run out a game again, and our attack with the Hoff playing well and Schulz fit looks pretty good. I'm not at all convinced about the defence though, and am a little scared about what a good attack could do to them. There's noone to stop the likes of Buddy or Cloke. Still, I'm riding the wave while it lasts and hoping to be proven wrong. Plus, feeling very happy after coming from that far down to beat the Crows.

Great atmosphere at the game too.

Great goals are either individual, as in one person did something brilliant, or team where multiple people did something "special". This was the latter because of the lead-up to Franklin's kick.

How many people need to touch it for it to be a team goal?

I agree, get it back to twelve teams and the competition will make sense. All they need to do is merge all the pretend clubs, WC, FR, PA, AD, GWS, GC, with Melbourne, and then they will play alright, and sell off a few home games to keep the competition national.

I watched it - there were a couple of frees paid that weren't there, a couple of Demons made high contact and pushed in the back which were not paid which resulted in turnovers and goals, and a couple of absolutely terrible 50's that demoralised the Giants.

Even the Foxtel commentators started to suggest the Giants were getting the raw end of the prawn, and they had been Demons cheerleaders all day.

Bergsey they were 41 points up against an average team. Cripps was still running ok at the end.

So was Razzle, they are both shit so it doesn't matter. It isn't surprising that Port had run in the second half, you stated how lazy they were in the first. If you think losing Priddis who spends about two seconds on the bench doesn't make a difference for the more burst and rest blokes like Shuey you are kidding yourself.

However the real reason for the loss was the very average goal kicking.

So we're just not good enough? More troubling than slack of intensity and desire IMO.I think most would have had wce around 5 or 6 at the start of the year and possible top four if they had a good injury run and won a chunk of these early ones before nic nat came back

Partly not good enough IMO. We are missing Rosa, Wellingham and NicNat for the mid rotation. Kerr is underdone. Lost Priddis. Sheppard as well from the mid rotation who is infinitely better than...

Dalziell is a rubbish footballer. Cripps is only a bit part player currently. Masto had a down night after carrying the team for the last few weeks. As above I personally can excuse the second half a little given losing Priddis and how little Port appeared to run in the first half. The goal kicking wasn't good enough and that is almost a product of caring too much. Top 8 is still possible given the player they get back and the fixture gets a bit easier.

Three goals were missed from around 25m. Are they fined for that sort of rubbish?

Doubt it.
