Charity Ambrose day at Secret Harbour today, our team (20 and 30 cappers) hit -2 off the stick. Was brilliant fun and for a great cause (a local special needs school). Looks like the kids had a great time speeding around the course in carts with their teachers and a ton of money was raised to build them new facilities. Really impressive how generous some businesses are.

On a golf front, it was my 4th consecutive round without losing a ball (I'd usually lose 2 or 3 a round on average). Really starting to get some confidence with the driver, and even smoked one on a happy gilmore hole.

Excuse me?

Bogans.

Did that not make sense?

Was a fun day rather than serious golf. Had a happy gilmore drive hole (after shots - plus one shot per windy), teeing off standing on tyre, teeing off with a hockey stick, pitching wedge only hole (par 4 - I hit it in reg) and so on. All sounded stupid to me but was actually fun messing around.

They shot 70 off the stick, that is amazing.

I thought 70 off the stick was pretty crap for 4 ball Ambrose?

91/78 midweek Monthly Medal.

Politicians mmust have been in session yesterday, winds gusting up to 70km/hr in Canberra. First time I have seen 3 over 75 (nett) win a B grade monthly medal..

Amateurs the lot of ya.

Finally went through my card from tuesday at Harty.

20 points. 10 front, 10 back. Lucky I parred the index one hole for a 4 pointer.

Amazing what an open course can do though. 4 absolute mugs chopping it and walking in 37-38C 3.5 hours.

Congrats on the sub 4 hour round, Pieface.

37 points in the wind yesterday.
Just found out that a 3 putt on the 18th cost me winning div. 1 on countback. :(
(But still 5 shots behind the div. 2 (C grade) winner.)

I always try to go low when I get out Dotty :)

Bummer about the 3 putt to finish mate.

85/71 in the back marker at Reddy Bay today to miss out on another shirt by 1, and the prizes by 1 as well. After playing pretty poorly on Wednesday, it was a nice turnaround. 39 on the front, 46 on the back. 29 putts, 6 fwy and only 2 gir. Handicrap drops to a new low of 13.4. Getting it down there. Disappointed that I had a chance at a sub 80 round and stuffed it up coming home. Took the birdie money on 16, only to see the 2 long hitters both birdie 18 and take it at the death.

86/75 at Reddy Bay today. I was woeful with the driver hitting a number of drop kicks, cold tops etc...
I was happy with the rest of my game though and starting to get some confidence back.

85/82 @ reddie bay.... Struggled all day. The back nine was hard work :( golf on one leg is over rated. In saying that, hardly affected my ball striking, just hit it left all day.

I did manage to jag 3 birdies, including the one that stole Petey's $$$... ;)

4BBB stab at royal Pine Rivers.

Partner and I came in with 53 points all up! We suspect we'll get done by a point by some burglars!!

Awesome round!

Played pretty well today, score was crud. 31 points, 16/15. Drove well, irons good, putting was close all day just didn't covert the birdies and leaked too many shots coming home.

35 points at Thurgoona this morning. Much better ball striking, but putted like a muppet. The greens were excellent, but I was not.

Raised the bat at Lost Farm today over 20 holes. Didn't hit it very well (and the penalties for missing fairways are rather high)....

Still it was a great fun day and I am very sunburnt and a bit sozzled!

Kapunda today.
Real Jekell and Hyde round stuff. 9 over on the front and 2 under on the back and lipped out a 6 footer to make it -3 on the last.

The R11's was put on notice today of being made redundant for a Titty 910. I hit it solid on the front but always seemed to be half a fairway out with the alignment and the cross winds made the results bad. On the 6th hole of the back nine I took a little more time looking at the alignment off the r11 logo on the top. To be pointing in the direction I needed to go, the logo appears to be pointing right (open) when standing at address to me. Hit a long bomb on that hole that just kept going and finished in the middle of the fairway. Did the same with the alignment on the last 3 and hit 3 more long bombs finishing on the fairway of all of them. It looks like when I thought I was square I had the face shut. If only I can remember this next time I go out.
Putted for two eagles today and got one of them. 6 balls coming my way.

Round stats. Course Par 73.
80/75 - 45in, 35 out
Fairways Hit= 5/15 - 0in, 5out
Dead Drives= 6/15 - 4in, 2out
GIR= 6 - 1in, 5out
Putts=29
3 doubles all on the front 9, 1 eagle and 2 birdies on the back nine.

I started (10th) & finished (9th) with 4 point birdies. I had a 2-putt birdie on the par 5 18th. Sounds like the making of a good round, no? Well, I only scored 20 pts on the other 15 holes.

Another round at Mt Lawley today. Stroke (with ACR 73).

I had two doubles in the first 5 holes, which kind of derailed the round early. Shot 44 on the front with just some horrible golf. One mistake compounded by another. Got it back together on the back 9 and shot 39. So an 83 gross and 75 nett...not too bad in the end. Was enough to replace a flagged round of 11 with a 10, and dropped 0.1 to 7.6. Another new low.

The goal now is to be off 6 by New Year!

What could have been today...

Lipped 8 footer for bird on first
Double bogeyed the second
Missed 8 footer for birdie on third
Lipped 4 footer for birdie on 4
Birdied 6
Eagled 7
Lipped 4 footer for par on 8
Left par putt from 10 foot 1cm short on 9
Missed 7 footer for birdie on 13
Left par putt 1 inch short on 14
Missed 12 footer for birdie on 15
Lipped 45 footer for birdie on 18.

All up 74 off the bat for 38 points.

Windy as hell today with gusts up to 45-50 km/h.

Back down to 3.3.

6 of last 7 rounds are now flagged. That'll hurt in about 7 or 8 months time!!!

34 points yesterday though golflink has it at 36 due to it being a 4BBB. We combined for 45 points and got beaten by our playing partners.

2 chip ins. 1 x 35 footer for birdie. 1 x 2 putt birdie at 9th.

Jockrot on the Jarro Scale : 5/10. (Powder required).

Played Friday in the reddie bay black marker for 85/82..... Played terrible, but still scored alright when it mattered ;)

Yesterday's round goes in the weird file. Square after 6, for 15 points... 4 double bogies in a row, for 1 point. Then -3 for the last 8 for 19 points. Could do no wrong early, was lucky to even hit it in the middle, and then had it on a string at the end. Funny day.

Mug of Mugs on Wednesday, shot 84/73. Drove the ball poorly, but managed to hit a lot of greens. Didn't make a putt all day.

6/14 FIR
9/18 GIR
36 putts
9 pars
6 bogeys
3 doubles

Black Marker Challenge on Friday; 84/73. My driving was crap, hit 1 GIR. Scrambled like a pro most of the day.

3/14 FIR
1/18 GIR
27 putts
7 pars, 10 bogeys, 1 dbl

Played a 4 ball multiplier yesterday for 34 points (85/74). Driver was better, but still a long way to go. Struggled to get the ball to the hole on slowish greens, finished with a chip in birdie.

9/14 FIR
5/18 GIR
32 putts
2 Birdies
4 pars
10 bogeys
1 dbl, 1 triple

As a pair we played so consistently our added scores were actually way better than our multiplied ( 67 vs 61).

I now have 8 of the last 12 rounds as counters, and am hovering just above my all time low hcp of 10.6.

Put my name down for 7am this week (normally play around 8-830), thinking I could get around in 4 hours and be in time for a kids xmas party at someones shack.

Got around halfway at 10am, the group that started at 730 was right up our clacker. Had to walk off after the 11th as there was no way I would have survived the fallout from the Mrs.
Was doing OK as well but oh well, I've learnt my lesson for next time

Played Hillview with a mate this morning, it's a bit of goat track! Pretty windy and had a 43 front nine? Hit nine greens on the back nine with no luck with the putter, finished with a 35. 78/71 for the day.

08/12/12, Wolston Park GC, Single Stableford.

4/11 effective tee-shots.

8 bogeys.

Scoring: BPBPPPPBb PBBPPbBBB
(http://www.ozgolf.net/andyp/Scorecard/rounds/20120820-p102.html)Score (http://www.ozgolf.net/andyp/Scorecard/rounds/20121208-p105.html): 37-36-73 stab 39 (Par 35-32-67 ACR 65)

H/cap Change: Down 0.5 to 8.3

This was my first round in 14 weeks, and I would have been happy with 30 points. And after hooking my first tee shot into the hazard, there is no way I could have expected to score the way I did. I did get lucky on a few stray tee-shots, which required some scrambling, but some of the pitches I played yesterday, I wouldn't have hit as well when I was playing more often. If I can shoot a score like this off a break, surely I'm capable of playing better and getting the handicap down with some regular playing. Unfortunately, golf doesn't seem to work like that.

Next round: A Nudgee Ambrose comp with a few OZgolf lads. The main reason I have started playing again is so I'm not completely unco for the Wynnum Pro-Am on the 17th.

I played miserable golf yesterday, if it wasnt for the high netting near the 15th tee at Gungahlin, I reckon I would have put my drive in Benno's loungeroom :x

Sunday 9/12 - Wakehurst - 40 points

How would you describe Wakehurst as a course? My mate plays there socially midweek and tells me he shoots a few over for 9... and then he comes back to our home course on the Central Coast and chops it around in and raises the bat for 18 off a HC of 26. Is it an open course with minimal bunkering? That's the only explanation I can think of since he hits long but not so straight and his short game is way better than that of a 20+ capper if you ignore his dismal bunker shots.

Anyway, back on topic... played at Gosford GC yesterday for 35 points. Didn't count putts but must have been well into the 30s, also remember a penalty on the last, skulled chip, missing most of the par 3 greens and some pretty average course management decisions where I short sided myself and had to hit miracle flops. Basically I played rubbish and somehow scrambled for 35 points so I'm confident going into Saturday :)

I had a my best round on Saturday 68 off the stike (4 under) 33 on the front and 35 on the back. 6 birdies, I hit 15 greens in reg and had 28 putts.
Seeing as I have not done any practise for over a month I am very shocked but happy with the results
