Hi Guys,

Thought it was time to upgrade from the old Upro GPS as its on its last legs and thought a laser might be better than a GPS?

I dont know if this is the best section to get a bit of a discussion going but would love to hear others thoughts on one vs the other.

Also if its a laser, what has it got to be?

Laser all the way for me, I've seen how inaccurate GPS units can be. GPS can be useful on courses you aren't familiar with, particularly with blind and semi blind shots but a laser can do most things a GPS can do with much greater precision. Couple of weeks ago one of my playing partners GPS showed a 225 carry over a fairway bunker, I lasered it at 240 to the front lip. I'd hope that they are usually more accurate than that but I couldn't be confident in one knowing that it could be that far out. Plus laser obviously gives you an exact distance on approaches, something that a GPS just can't do.

I use a Bushnell Tour V2, never used anything else so can't comment on other models. Pin seeking mode is pretty useless outside of about 170m I find but scan is great and can usually get a reading within a few seconds.

I agree with push. I've got both and since getting the Bushnell v2, I find I virtually never use the GPS, the batteries lasts alot longer. Also the laser is tonnes more accurate.

you can always get both. This is a pretty good price then spend some good money on a Bushnell.

This dude sells them for about $180 delivered, 100% feedback rating out of Sydney, what I'll be getting once I find a magical money tree....one day.....

This model (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GOLF-LASER-RANGE-FINDER-X-1000-WITH-PINSENSOR-II-TECHNOLOGY-NEW-MODEL-FOR-2012-/221160047452?pt=AU_Golf_Accessories&hash=item337e2a835c&_uhb=1#ht_6011wt_1141) for $170, or this model (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320978348689&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:AU:1123#ht_5204wt_1167) for $10 more (when he has more stock). I can't stomach spending $350+, under $200 is much more palatable
