View Full Version : What's The Longest Shot You've Holed????

Hatchman

After reading about peterthepilots's ace last week it got thinking about full blooded shots being holed and was wondering what was the longest shot someone from the forum has holed?

Including aces what's the longest shot(s) you've holed out?
What club did you use and what was the score?

Longest was for me was an ace on the 203m uphill par3 13th at Berri. Slight tail wind and flushed a 4iron with a small draw, landed front edge, rolled up towards the hole and disappeared.

Next was a 9iron from about 145m for my second on the 4th at Balaklava. That one hunted the flag the moment it left the club and vanished from sight when it hit the green. Wasn't sure if I was on or air mailed at the time. Pitch mark was only a couple of inched from the hole.

160m 6 iron into the old 13th at Ipswich, for an eagle.

Never had an ace, and I think that's the only shot over about 120 I can recall holing.

135m par three.

225m second shot at Albert Park for a 2.

Too bad it counts for SFA. I can always refer to it with my mates though ahaha.

Other than that: in actual competition play: 60m third onto a par 5 at my home course for an Eagle.

160m 6 iron in practice on the 26th hole at Camden Valley. 170m 4 iron ace in practice on the 14th at Marrickville. 120m 9 iron for an eagle 2 on the 15th at Camden Lakeside (my only ever 5 pointer in stableford), 105m gap wedge on the 1st at Camden Lakeside for an eagle 2 (arsey...I pulled it left and it kicked right off a mound  ) and the best.....a PW ace on the 105m par 3 5th hole in comp at Barnwell Park last year.

6 iron from 170m on the 17th at Denarau Island, Fiji. Wind howling from the right, set it out and came back on the breeze, bounced twice and dunked into the hole.
9 iron at one of the par 3's at Collinsville GC in north Queensland.
9 iron at the 16th at Barnbougle Dunes in April this year, went over the left bunker, ran up the surrounds, back onto the green and into the hole. Finished birdie, birdie on 17 & 18 as well for -4 in the last 3 holes.

A 190ish metre 4 iron on a par 5. It went in on the fly. Destroyed the lip of the hole. This after I'd chipped backwards out of the junk after my tee shot.

140-something with 8 iron on the par 3 8th at Cairns.
Next longest after that would be no longer than 10 or 15m (mostly from the sand).

When I first met the wife she came and caddied for me at the Humpty Doo open, was probably our first date, being the class act that I am. I holed a 100m sand iron, at the time the longest slam dunk for me, and she just looked at me and said "why don't you do that all the time?"
Never asked her to caddy again.

Sadly the best I can actually claim is a 60m chip.

I guess I need to use a shorter club as it seems I exhibit a distinct LOFT compared to the legends here.

Jeepers. Clearly there are some very good and some very arsey golfers here :)

I've never holed anything outside chips, though I've holed a couple of long ones from 25-30 metre range. Closest I've come is a lipout for a hole in one, and next best a sand iron from 100 metres that shaved the hole on the suck back in the club champs final a month or so back. Didn't even get to see it from where I was, and had to hear it from the gallery. Near misses don't count though!

Well over 350 metres, but it was a long long way. In the mid 70's when we were living at Bamaga, I would on the odd occasion smash golf balls down Higginsfield sealed runway from west to east downhill. The airstrip was one mile long (reduced from 10,000 yds during the war). One time a ball ended up in a drainage hole off the fairway, way down the strip. Does that count?

Does the OP mean comp? My mistake. I wasn't happy about that ball running off the runway, must have got a bad bounce.

191yrd Hole-In-One, Oaks Golf course UK. 7 iron with my usual 5 - 10 yard fade to a huge green bout 10ft below the tee. It actually landed on the downslope behind the hole and rolled back out of sight... A quick look on the green resulted in a hole check followed by a football style "Polo shirt over the head victory lap of the green" followed by a bar tab that almost bankrupt me!!! Wouldn't change it for the world.

On the subject I did have a 3 wood 2nd shot hit the pin from about 230 yards on a Par 5 at Coulsdon Court in the UK many years ago. They guys on the next tee waiting to play saw it arcing in, I was told if it hadn't hit the pin it would have been in the car park, but it stopped 2ft from the hole after impact. In magic Ted fashion I managed to push the putt about 5ft past the hole for my Eagle. Got the Bird, but what a waste. I will never forget it.

I have holed 6 iron twice. Can't remember the yardage, but it would have been around the 155-160 mark. One was in an Ambrose, the other in a regular comp.

Before we were married my wife would come out and walk the course. We pressured her to play once at barmera.. hooks into the scrub, then holes out from 140 for eagle.
That was ten years ago and has played two games since. She's a hockey player and just doesn't enjoy golf.

If you talking Barmera S.A I don't recall any scrub on that course only lots of salt bush :) or other wise know as yum yum bushes (they gobble up golf balls and go yum yum).
