Hit 86% Fairways, 56% of Greens & the new putter is going great.. 32 Putts on deeply scarified & heavily sanded greens

My pitching & chipping needs some serious work though... hit the odd block to the right with some approach shots & made 2 x doubles which weren't exactly awe inspiring...

Hopefully figured out the blocks though; a playing partner commented that whenever I hit a block with an approach shot I was playing it very close to off the back foot - that might explain contact with an open club face; will pay significantly more attention to that part of my setup...

All in all, not a bad day though.. new irons are giving me back much needed confidence, Driver is a friggin bomb & I've never felt so confident with the putter in hand.

Alright. My first one of these (and not my best)
Monthly medal; Started with bogey, double, bogey, bogey. Ended that 9 with 43 off the stick :roll: (one under net) Playing with a couple of cricket blokes so standards were high.
Started the back with a double, bogey, par, birdy, double and ended that with 41 to give me 84 with 28 putts (net 70) which gave me outright 3rd..

40 points at royal Nudgee (north) on reno'd greens today. 3rd in Div 1. 9/14 Fairways, 7 GIR. 31 putts (no 3s). 43/39 off the stick. couple of putts lipped out. 1 bird, 8 par, 7 bog, 1 dub and 1 trip (Snap hooked drive on 6 into trees and lost it, found when coming back up 7, 5 with the second ball).

Handicap drop down to 14.1. New lowest ever. Getting closer to my goal of breaking 80.

1 x birdie, 3 x 1 putts. Reno'd greens, very ordinary.
I've officially sacked the chipper in favour of a 52* wedge. $20 well spent.
Should have been more, hit driver on the last up the guts to about 100 out only to skinny 1 through the green ob and shank the next. Worst 2 shots of the round but overall it's getting better.

36 points at Long Reef yesterday - wind factor about a 6-7/10. Greens in reg still a massive weak point @ 33% - 64% of fairways, 27 putts, 3 birdies. Playing the par 3's like a 36 marker at the moment. With 2 holes to play, I announced to my group that I needed a par birdie finish (in any order) to play to handicap - made par then birdie by holing 15 footers on both holes for a very satisfying end to the round!

33 Was probably the worse I could have shot today, happy with the ball striking over all but when I made a bad swing, it was really punished!! Missed a couple of short putts as well. There is always next week.

I haven't played an official comp round for a while, while thinking about changing my ball flight. It wasn't working, so it is back to the old low draw. It was as if I'd never been away today, as it was the same old rubbish for 29 points. Great driving, ordinary approaches, terrible short game. This was the last of 7 non-scoring golflink rounds in a row. All I needed was a 33 to get in the top 8, but I couldn't do it. At least I now get a shot back, and probably another one the game after that.

Yesterday's game was good enough to win the 2BBB scratch and balls in the singles and 2BBB Net events for the day.....More money to pay off my account after the recent spending spree!!

The Vientiane Miners Club decided to play an ambrose for some reason even though there were only 8 of us playing.

The team I skippered had one bloke so bad that we had to take a slut on the 15th because he finally got one in play and we were running out of holes to get a drive in from him. He hadn't successfully gotten off the tee since the 5th. Then we took his almost slut on 16 cos there was no way he wouldn't dunk a ball off both the 17th and 18th tees. (Which he duly did.) 3 over with that particular hand-brake wasn't too bad. He holed an 8 footer plus the 3 drives we had to take were his only contribution to the scoring for the day.

Weekend resort getaway with Mr's Hatchman.
Had a bash at McCracken while she drove the cart and asked stupid annoying questions.
Played ordinary and managed a 7 over 79 with no birdies.
6 out 13 fairways hit
2 dead drives
9 Greens in regulation
33 putts with two 3's and one 4. Had 6 lip outs so it was a bit of if only.

Loving the wide fairways as I would have only hit 2 or 3 at home.

Played in a scramble regional final. Finished 6 shots off the pace. Our "Pro"??? playing off scratch contributed 1 shot excluding 3 compulsory drives, 2 of which were taken in last 3 holes!!!
Is there a minimum standard a "pro" must play to in order to retain their pro status? Hollow sort of feeling when you realise your banker is not going to contribute after seeing his swing on first tee. Sour grapes , absolutely. Just pity next years lucky teams who pay entries, travel etc...
