Does anyone have one, or have heard anything about them?
http://www.maytronics.com.au/
I'm well and truly over my kreepy krawly - it's rubbish. It chooses when it wants to work less than Solarmans golf swing...

They're definitely on the Exxy side, but supposedly you don't need to run them as much, don't need to run your pump/filter as much either and are far far superiror in their cleaning capability...

Just looking for some feedback (if there is any!)

Cheers,

Tim

We've got one of these (http://www.zodiac.com.au/products/cleaners/suction-cleaners/zodiac-mx8-suction-pool-cleaner). It's been far more reliable than the old style so far.

On another note, did you know that there's an app for that (http://www.zodiac.com.au/products/pool-spa-controllers/iaqualink)? ;)

Cheers Courty...will have a look.

We have an old Zodiac cleaner, but I have no idea how old it is, it came with the pool when we bought the house.
ATM though, I don't even bother hooking it up unless I'm at home to keep kicking it over, so it's a waste...

I'll look for the app hey? :P

We've got the Zodiac Baracuda G2 and it works very well.

This is it Tim ..

It cleans up the sides of the pool no probs, and we haven't had a drama with it at all so far.

I've also been told that if they do need a new diaphragm in them, it's a very simple job.

That cleaner of yours in the above post looks a little extreme. Is your pool cement or fibreglass ?

FWIW we had the old Zodiac robotic cleaner before the G2 and it was nothing but problems :(

We've been through a couple of that style (all Zodiac) and none of them lasted longer than 2 years (a lot of it might be to do with the type of pool we have). The diaphragm is the least of the problems. The skirts wear out (pebbletex), the sole plate wears out (pebbletex), and the cover holding the weight at the back of the body fell off. The lesson to be learned is that they are not ideal for pebbletex pools.

Ok then .... we have a fibreglass pool so obviously it doesn't wear out the cleaner as much as the pebblecrete surface does.

You might have to go with the more expensive option them Tim.

I actually have a feeling ours is a bastardized version of a Zodiac. Not sure which one but it may even be a G2. It just doesn't work, sometimes it sucks, sometimes it doesn't.

I don't mind paying the $$, but I want something that will work we'll and last a bit.

(P.s. one of Courty's is a LOT less than the Dolphin robotics in my OP!)

Our pool cleaner recently died and we got a Pandora Smart robotic cleaner through these guys, at a much better price than what the local dealer could do:

We have had it about a month and so far no concerns. Our pool is a basic rectangular shape so I am not sure how it would go in a more freeform pool design.

Cheers Dcanto, they have the best price I've seen on the MX8, that's for sure!

I know this thread is about Robotic Cleaners, but if anyone is looking at some of the old style pool cleaners, I can recommend the Zodiac Aquasphere very highly. We replaced a Baracuda G2 with one at the beginning of the year. The Aquasphere is pretty much the same cleaner (main parts are interchangeable), but simplier (like the original Baracuda) and half the price of a G2 or similar. Has to be the lowest maintenance pool cleaner ever!, just keeps going and does a great job.

I guess to finish off, although I'm not getting as much suction through the lines as I'd like, the MX-8 is fantastic. Thanks Courty 8)
