AUSTRALIA coach John Buchanan, under fire since his side lost The Ashes to England, has been reappointed to the role until the end of the 2007 cricket World Cup in the Caribbean.
Australia has won the past two World Cups, in England in 1999 and in South Africa in 2003, and Buchanan had wanted the opportunity to coach the No.1 team until the end of the next quadrennial tournament.
Buchanan, who became coach of the Australian team in 1999, came in for heavy criticism following Australia's failed Ashes campaign in England.
"We have our work cut out after the disappointment of the Ashes series," Buchanan said in a statement following his reappointment.
