Today I had the bizzare happening that you normally only see on the Pro tour.
I had hit my ball into a position that was unplayable. Ideclared it unplayable, my nearest point of relief was the access path to the greenkeepers shed so then I got relief again. It was the first time I had to go through the whole lay out a club 2 times, place a tee, drop, take a stance, get relief from that one, drop again and then finally hit the ball. I nailed the chip onto the green and my playing partners all A graders complmented me on both the fact that I asked for comfirmation tha i was doign it right and the fact that I had a pretty good understanding of the rules.

Another interesting one for you then. During our recent pro-am my mate hit a ball into the trees. We found it resting up against a tree. But the tree had an in-ground dripper that had come out of the ground and curled up against the tree. My mates ball was against the tree but also wedged under the dripper which was curled over the ball. In the end we came to the conclusion that it was a free drop, as it was an immovable obstruction regardless of the tree.

I had a curly one up at Casino.

I thinned a ball from about 55 out on my 2nd shot on a par 4, through the green and making its way towards the boundary fence.

Along the fence behind the 11th green/12th tee, there's a seat/shade construction, looks like a bus stop. My ball comes to rest on the boundary fence (thank heavens for the brand newly installed 12' high security fence - WITH barbed wire), but behind the shelter and the fence by about a grip-length. No chance of playing a shot (i had already hit a provisional).

All agreed while i can't get a drop for the fence, i was entitled to a drop because of the shelter.

My ball came to rest down a sprinkler on/off valve, about 2 ft under the ground where the cover had been left off... I argued with my playing partners that I should be given a free drop ...... i got it but should I have ?

Cheers

Its artificial, and not an integral part of the course. so absolutley yes.
