View Full Version : Qld: Mt Warren Park Golf Club - Junior Fun Day - November 3, 2013 - 12pm Shot Gun Start

Hey Everyone,

As some of you maybe aware, this year I have taken on the role of 'Junior Coordinator' at my local golf club. It is role that has it's challenges, but I enjoy no end, and when you see a youngster win their first monthly medal, very REWARDING.

Mt Warren Park Golf Club has a history of having a 4 ball ambrose/junior break up day to raise money for the junior golf club. Last year the money was spent on prizes, training aids, and a bus for the juniors to travel to Royal PINES to watch the golf, including their entry. This is also the kids presentation day for the kids, so it is a big deal for them all.

Last year we raised almost $3000, which meant all of the above was achieved, plus the juniors donated money back to the club for a practice bunker to be built.

Along with the golf for the adults, we have a jumping castle planned for the kids.

I thought this may interest some Oz golfers, and I would love for even just one group to come and play. Come as a four, a single or as a family and make a day of it. We have plenty of prizes, and it is considered one of the highlights on the clubs calender, that non members are most welcome to attend.

Pricing is a flat $25 for members, or non-members.

Come have a hit, a laugh, and just enjoy the day with a group of your mates, or better still your Ozgolf mates.... ;)

It's like some sort of Wiggles trip...

Thanks for the day Andy.

Seriously people are going to be asking questions. Two events at mt warren, and you have won both( 4ball katie perry day and now junior 4ball day) haha.

Thanks for a great day Popper. The young kids were awesome, and you have moved into second favouritism for the champs with that performance. What is your anchor?

Also, having trouble opening the box containing the GOLF GPS WATCH GW1 by SURESHOT that we won. Please send instructions.

Ps. I should have been disqualified for not having a blue card.

You're just lucky we had to take 3 of your drives, we might not have got them in otherwise. ;)

Thanks Pops.

Thanks also to Lager, Lager jnr and Jaybam for the hit. Shot of the day from our group was Lager jnr's chip to a couple of feet from about 50m and in the tree line. He was under a bit of pressure with a group on the next tee watching closely. They gave him an appropriate cheer too. None of the rest of us got close.

I couldn't believe the amount of high handicappers that knocked it close, mind you I hit some s@$& shots which didn't help. Sounds good I feel like getting out driven by 50 all day and watching a pure swing, instead of my tree lopping hack at the ball.

Popper ... I had to put the instruction booklet away for the GPS WATCH GW1 by SURESHOT that we won.

On page 6 it said ... Thankyou for purchasing the .... so I tore it up.

If you could get them to change it to ... Well done on winning the .... that would be fantastic.

Maybe I'll just get a crayon and some sticky tape.

I recall a low one from you into 9 popper, nice and close. Just can't remember what you hit, little wedge I think? Jackson has to be good, dad being a pro and a former gun caddie.

Thanks Mr P.

It is true.... Back on again.

There have been some extremely generous contributions over the past two years, thanks to those people. A quick update for those interested.

MWP now has over 60 juniors, with coaching on three afternoon after school and 3 or 4 groups Saturday mornings. That is 7 different groups.. Amazing really. They are even playing a 4 hole 2 ball Ambrose on Monday afternoon... The kids just love their golf!!!

The also won the inaugural SEQDGA peewee pennant flag this year, played over 9 holes.

Money used from last years fundraiser was used in many ways including:
- paid for a bus load of kids to go to the pga at Royal Pines... A heap of them met Scotty & Ricky so they were STOKED!!
- pennant shirts for peewee &18 hole pennant teams and
- cover costs for 1 junior to attend the pump golf clinic held in conjunction
- cover prizes in competitions

Young Yevin won this years C grade club championship and recently had 85 off the bat in a monthly medal. He is only 10 or 11 from memory.

If anyone is keen for a hit in this let me know and I am happy to sort it out for you.

Pop
