well i can't wait to see how this week on the PGA tour pans out .... 'cos for the first time in ages, 250 weeks to be exact, Tiger MIGHT lose the top spot in world golf :o

If Ernie wins and Tiger finishes worse than 6th ... Ernie will be the new number 1 :D

not sure what happens if Ernie, or Vijay win .. and Tiger finishes well ... but it means for sure that the gap at the top is smaller than it's been for quite a long time.

I think it's great :)

Last I heard, it was Vijay that was closest to knocking him off. I hope Ernie does though. 8)

I never realised how close Ernie was to the No1 Spot until I read that he was No2 with the Memorial win...

SEE - it pays to play worldwide!!!

Ernie has 6 wins worldwide this year (if u believe ESPN), followed by Vj, Jiminez.... Adam Scott and Tiger with 3 each...

I think it would be great to have a new world number one, considoring Tiger isn't the best player in the world at the moment, I can think of a host of players who are better than him.

somehow, I think Tiger will still be No1 come Monday morning...

I just can't see Els or Vj winning this tournament...

But one of them will be in abt 3 mths time...maybe less...

but what happens if say, for instance, Ernie finishes 3rd .. .and Tiger finishes 20th.

Does Ernie still gain enough points to overtake Tiger for the No1 spot :? :?:

I doubt it, I think it has to be a win.

And I am 100% sure that Tiger has not passed Greg Norman's record.

as long as ernie or Vj doesn't win, Tiger will still be number 1...

but I do like ur prediction of Ernie @ 3....
but I'll have Tiger lower placed than 20...

I've heard that tiger dosen't pass normans record until sometime in august. Still leaves enough time for els or vj to pass him, considering the way they are playing compared to him. I hope one of them does it, even if it lasts for only a week.

I'd like to see normans record stand a little longer.

Doesn't worry me. But am I correct in assuming that Norman holds the record because official rankings were only introduced in the 70's or 80's?
