Wow, what a weekend!

Great to see some new faces amongst the old ones considering the clash with Father's Day.

I won't say that I had an especially great "golf" weekend but I did have a fantastic social one! My playing partners through all 4 rounds were great company and we all had a good laugh.

This event only happens because of the dedicated people we have to do the organizing. It is a great testament to these people that the event runs as smoothly as it does. The people who travel from near and far truly make this little community a special one.

Bring on the 10th Champs next year!

+1. Was a fun weekend and got to play with some more of the OzGolf community I hadn't met before.

Note to self - need to find darker sunny lenses if I am going to play with Lefty again!;)

Well said Saz. Golf was garbage this year, but it's great to catch up with the mob. I love youse all.

Bring on next year.

I really enjoyed staying onsite this year, cracking fun!

Next year im going to prepare by practicing putting on our fairways.....

Agreed Shaz!

Thankfully, it's definitely not about the golf!

First two champs was drinking and smoking the whole time. This time had quit the smokes and couldn't drink because I had to drive back and forth to Brisbane. Had to work Friday night and Saturday morning and Sunday Night. Also needed to be in the main house as adult supervision was required with under age boarders.
It's easy to make comments that it's not about the golf and how serious some people get but everyone has different circumstances.

Happy to be excluded if unable to get pissed or handicap is too high.

After the first tee shot at Bribie, I knew I wasn't there for the golf :)

The groups I played in were great with lots of laughs and friendly banter. Though I am still picking off the mental scars from Shazz's razzing ;)

Obeying Bruce's edict not to bring home the NAGA had me under a bit of pressure.

Lefty made me feel ancient, but it was good to seem him having a ball (when he wasn't playing golf...). Angry redhead is angry! ;)

All in all a fantastic 4 days. Looking forward to doing it again.

Mine was more shi**ing then hitting and looking at more bowls then holes, but still ended up having a ball!

It was a great weekend, that I personally had a ball at.... Thanks to all that made it happen, things like champs have alot of back work, that at times I am sure seems like it's not worth the effort.

I could not have had more fun over the three days golf wise, all three groups were great, and I thoroughly enjoyed your company, thank you for making my weekend what it was.

My highlights

10th hole Saturday (our first) Lefty - Smashing Driver, wood to about 6ft for 2.... Hit a good putt that missed. Unlucky buddy.

Marto taking a shoe off to play out of a hazard on the 14th on saturday... Who said it is not about the golf!

Second birdie on the first for me after hitting driver left... Scored a point, seemed like alot of effort, but really enjoyed it.

Both Cosmo, Titty and Daves playing the wrong ball over the course of the weekend...What is doing guys and gals?

My putt in the putting comp playoff before we tee'd off.... Those of you that witnessed it will know how good it was:oops::oops::oops:

Honourable Mentions

Shazza's sledge on Lefty about being a red nut... Lady has acid for spit.

Marto v Shazza on the "c" word.. And not how you think... Funny stuff.

I've already said it elsewhere, but thanks to all those who make these events possible. They are hugely enjoyable, marked by the fact that this weekend past was my 6th in a row, and will not be my last.

A big thanks also to all of my playing partners:-

Friday @ Bribie: Peter_rs (I think we've played together in just about every Champs I've been to) & Xray
Saturday @ Pelican: Titleist, Brokar & Nudgee
Sunday @ Pelican: Brisvegas, Kev & Hux
Monday @ Bribie: LeftyHoges, Kev (again!) & Shazza_rs

My highlights...

- Finishing the Bribie round with the same ball I started with
- Better than 50% sand saves over 36 holes at Pelican Waters. I should have aimed at the bunkers instead of trying to avoid them
- Almost holing a 4-iron to win NTP on 14 on Sunday
- Improv putting comp with Lefty & Tomson on Sunday arve. Could have stayed there for hours more if the light didn't run out.
- Reverse-motorboating Flowergirl at the Tavern on Sunday night 8)
- Against all odds, finishing as the highest-placed FNQ OZgolfer 8)
- Going toe-to-toe with LeftyHoges in the fashion stakes
- No shanks

My lowlights...
- The standard of my golf

"Almost holing a 4-iron to win NTP on 14 on Sunday"

That was a lovely little draw you put on that one. I hope you gave your swing coach a percentage of winnings.

Fantastic weekend guys. Definitely worth it for me.

A huge thank you to all my playing partners for putting up with my atrocious golf, and the rest of the OzGolfers for being the friendliest bunch of guys and girls I've ever had the privilege of meeting.

Special mention to:
Daves, for the best one sentence swing tip I've received.
Lefty, for showing me just how much abuse a stand bag can absorb. Also, when I close my eyes, I can still see your pants from Friday burnt into my retinas.
Ferrins, for keeping me laughing all of Saturday.
DC, for the encouragement, and for not defecating on any of my gear after I let SMS and NK at your clubs.
Flowergirl, for the hugs and encouragement.
SMS for organizing the pizza and Saturday night.
Shavey, for organizing pretty much everything else.
Marto's Mrs, for keeping the courtesy bus driver on task.
Virge, for the words of wisdom, and for not snoring Sunday night.

One of the best weekends of my life and bring on Tenterfield Champs 2013!!!!

Me also.

I look forward to the champs from about July... they truly are a great weekend of golf with some top blokes and the occasional non-bloke.

Highlights.

- The lads on each night partying till 3-4am. Poker, beers and talking shit. Excellent work all round.
- Watching Shavey hit 7 consecutive shanks on the practice range. just when you thought he wouldn't do it again... fore-right.
- Flushed it all day, both days. Have not hit it that well for a while. 100% sand saves including closest approach from a 110m bunker on the first. I think I hit 4 bad shots all weekend. Hit 14 or 15 greens each day.
- Chasing the ferret on Sunday... he was solid all day.
- The powerboat club, Guinness on tap for $4.50 a pint !!!

Lowlights.

- Trying to get Breakfast down each morning, then trying to keep it down.
- SMS in a G-banger.
- The ****ing greens. I dont know what language they are in or what they are made of, but I could not read a putt to save my mother. 4 footers were tearing left and right up hills and even bashing at the hole didn't work. They didnt spin on pitches or chips, they were like playing on bouncey astro-turf. if i could sink a putt, i would have been in sub par territory.
- Not chasing down the Ferret. ****ing greens.

Cheers to the crowd that again donated their time and considerable talent in organising the event. Next year can we play on bent greens ?

I'm not playing next year ...

I'm just gonna putt for Virge. I thought the greens ran pretty true .... only 2 x 3 putts ... both on the 10th. (I suppose the one on 18 on Sunday was too ....), but I holed some good ones.

Highlights ...

Putting up with Popper for 36 Holes at Pelican .... I loved every minute of it ... you're a class act, even though you got sucked in to my driving comp.
Meeting the new guys, even if Lefty is a ginger ... he's a good bloke.
Hitting it better hungover ....
Making the final of the Matchplay.

Lowlights.

No Birdies.
The seating plan for the Courtesy Bus back from the Powerboat Club.

I agree with Marto.... The greens were true, but they can be a bit tricky to read. I holed quite a few good putts on Saturday, Sunday not so much. Marto did putt well but with out luck. Lefty hit some putts on Saturday that deserved much better. That is golf.

Hahaha.. They driving comp was fun... Even if I didn't really do much in it.. Developed some bad habits over the last nine holes on Saturday, which I never got rid of. !12, 12, 12 finsh v 19 points out on Saturday is a lesson to hit fairways at pelican.

Now that I've had some time to decompress (or decompose) I should give my $1.50 worth here (much more than $0.02).

First and foremost, I must say a huge thank you for everyone welcoming me into the OzGolf fold. Was great to meet all of you and put names to faces / aliases etc. I will say that some of you weren't exactly what I had pictured in my mind, as I probably was to some of you. But everyone that I played / had a beer / had dinner / and socialised with were great company and fantastic people.

Next, to the people who organise such a fantastic exhibition, thank you. Shavey for the Pelican course and resort, the RS's for everything administrative and for Redcliffe on Monday, SMS for the pizza friday and Saturday night's festivities at the Tavern (thanks for picking a venue without a TAB, you saved me a shitload of money), Kev for organising flights and hire car for us, and for rooming with me and not being pissed off about me getting in at 3:00AM + every morning and leaving the lights on so I wouldn't trip head first over anything (didn't stop me from headbutting the wardrobe one night), and anyone else who had a part in anything that I wasn't aware of.

Playing those courses is an absolute delight, even if they did prove to be some of the most frustrating places I've ever come across (as exemplified by my brain farts on course, my apologies is anyone I played with was offended). Bribie and Pelican may have been some of the most penal courses I've come across and was quite glad for the relief of Redcliffe on Monday.

Thanks to all I played with over the 4 days, despite what it might have looked like I did enjoy the golf with each and every one of you.

As an aside, does anyone else find it super ironic that I could win the putting comp yet couldn't make a frickin' putt for the rest of the weekend? Or is that some sort of karmic retribution???

P.S There is a price to pay for such a lifestyle. Looks like I've either got Glandular Fever or Pharyngitis. Yay!!!! :-(

I think I had the best time ever playing crappy golf.

That for me sums up what the entire weekend is about. I tried explaining this to Timah's missus who said he usually comes home angry after a bad round but this time, he still had a smile on his face. Golf and early morning tee times really are an interruption to a great weekend of catching up.

Add to that the numerous acts of generosity like the people's champion bringing me a Scotty cover after he noticed I'd lost yet another, SMS's donation of vodka yet again and DC helping me drink it BEFORE I started topping it up with energy drink, NK for his donation of shank-aids. Virge spending time with a lot of us on the range (some more than others ), Lucas offering to replace my busted 910 D2 with a new D3 , for the remaining players at Bribie nearly all offering to let me use one of their spare drivers (generous or test drive I'm not sure you bunch of ho's) thanks again Pete and Lefty giving up his beauty sleep both nights to take our money playing Texas until I suggested we teach him (and Lucas) how to play euchre (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euchre)at 3am (Virge, you were thinking of 500 with those suit/trick nominations), Pro Hart for decorating my kitchen ceiling with more than a splash of red and Marto's misses for offering the courtesy bus driver some 'directions' To Lobby for reminding us how much fun you can have by having a go, Choppa for gracing us with his presence for two consecutive rounds and lastly to my playing partners Sunday (Tomson and Johny Boy) for the gimme on 18 - that was for your Rennie x

Where else can you mock your playing partners for having a shank and get paid for it, where the cart bet is more important than an individual score, where a bad taste in clothing is celebrated. Whatever state you are from or wherever you are playing, this my friends is ozgolf! Thanks to all that travelled from afar to join in the fun and big wraps to GC for backing-up (pardon the pun) Sunday after an early morning visit to the hospital.

PS: Collingwood, you owe the punters club $800 and I hope you get smashed this weekend!
