Alaina is over in South Africa working with women with AIDS, helping them put together memory books.  Before they started the project (yesterday), they visited a wildlife park.

"Don't feed the animals"

"We then headed off to the Lion Park.  We got to spend 2 minutes patting 3 - 4 month old lion cubs, which was very sweet, then we were able to feed a giraffe, which was fabulous, but rather icky!  Nothing like being slobbered on by a giraffe!

We then went on a safari truck through the lion territories.  Their lions are all fed and would not last in the wild, but are still very dangerous.  We saw one huge male, lying down with his head on some meat, looking very docile.  They then informed us that he and the pride had killed 2 Taiwanese tourists who thought the big pussy cat would like a pat!

Unlike Australia, because the signs warn people not to get out of the car, and because the lions just acted on instinct they were not destroyed.  Needless to say we did not feel the need for a pat of these ones!"

Bet Steve Irwin couldn't top that!  Crikey, look at these wonderful carnivores.  They eat meat, in fact who'd like to lend me a hand (or an arm) to feed them!

Why can't we do that to some of our dumber tourists who attend zoos (and give the lions a bit of extra protein).  Just our luck, we'd get morons trying to sue.

Jarro might have something to say about that! :?

Seriously though, those Lions can grow to several hundred kilos of pure muscle which could take a man apart in seconds...

Maybe they don't get the Discovery Channel in Taiwan?

sounds like a great trip Mark, you'll have to go along next time

those Lions sure are impressive, saw one at Dreamworld a while ago. The bloody thing weighed 150 kilos and could jump 20 feet up a tree
