Got a spare $3500?

That covers flights, accomodation, breakfasts and 8 rounds of golf at the new Mission Hills on the Island of Hai Kou in China.

There was a special in the paper on Saturday in the travel section.

The place looks amazing ... 10 golf courses ... Mineral Springs Spa's everywhere ... the place is built on an inactive volcano.

Looking at the possibility of a new year holiday ...

We (me/mate and our wives) were all but booked on one of these packages for 10-12 days.....until we got a bit of the silent treatment from the girls, seems they were not so keen on being in China that long.....so we gave them the option of Mission Hills vs Hawaii....."Ohau here we come"....28 more sleeps!

Hmmm..

Vientiane > Kunming > Hai Kou can be done in about 5 hours for about $1k return.

Please include me in any planning efforts Marto.

I can really only do my own stuff Marto.

Maybe you missed an update from me in that I am currently working and living in Vientiane, Laos and will be here for at least another year by the looks.

Marto, played a bit at Mission Hills when I was up in HK, I see you are going to the other resort down at Hainan Island. If it comes together, the other course to think about there is Shanquin, Crenshaw design, looks sensational. http://www.planetgolf.com/index.php?id=1541

Looking at April i think. Good golfing weather in china that time of year
Probably go to Hong kong, for a few nights then goto Mission Hills for 3/4 nights. Not sure which one yet, so many choices.

A group of mates of mine did this a number of years ago, i think when they first started running the tours.
Guy who organised it was a Fox Sports sales rep at the time.
Pretty sure it was $3.5k for Business class flights, 5 star hotels etc...
Said it was the best golfing trip anyone could have, outstanding!

Hainan Island is great if you want golf, not a lot else to do like local markets as its about 1/2 hour into the main city. I was there is January 2011 for oneasia q school and the smog was terrible and the average temp was 10* and raining nut the courses and hotel/resort was awesome. If you pick the weatehr right youll have a ball.

... are you sure you are talking about the same Hainan Island? The weather there is like Maldives .. and Sanya it's like our gold coast.

Well .. it's back on.

I've been looking for a better satellite image than google or nearmap could provide ... and found the above.

If you move lower left from here, you'll find all the other courses on the site.

Looks awesome .. cant wait ( well ... after the WA Champs ...)

We were quoted 1million RMB for a 1 bedroom apartment to buy, with 8 years of free golf.
