it's on again this weekend.

who's gonna win it this year :?:

BRad Jones and John Bowe. A team that is that consistently quick up there has got to have a change of luck. A seriously quick combination.

Can ford break a 6 year drought is the question you should be asking. :D

Dont' really care as long as it has a mighty lion badge. Although in saying that, i don't want Mark Skaife to win. 8) I don't like the guy.

Up the holdens!!!

Russell Ingall for me too.  He's fun to watch.

If Ingall crashes out (always a chance with him!), then I'd like Ambrose to win.

Skaife is a wanker.

In loving memory of my VL Commodore - RIP. She met a timely demise in traffic the other day..... :P

Ford's are the Collingwood (or St George) of SuperCars. If they happen to be in it down the stretch, then you can almost count on some sort of failure.

Skaife, Murph or one of the Kelly lunatics.

There was a less-fortunate wallaby last year.. anyone catch that one? Forget who collected it... turned the poor animal into it's component molecules.

Car wasn't too flash either afterwards...

FG the last time Brocky drove a 'Torona' :D Gough Whitlam was PM and Bert Newton hadn't had any face lifts.

Damo, I've driven over Skyline in a Gemini doing 50 kmh and that was scary.

I'd hate to do it at 150 kmh.

Long, long ago, I went around Bathurst at night, as a passenger in a mini bus being driven by a 19yo mate. 6 minutes 24 seconds for the lap :) , but the scary part was having the vehicle in a 6 wheel slide through The Dipper, watching the wall get closer and closer.

6min 24 secs :? ? Was your stop watch running on low battery?

It would take a mini bus that long to get up Mountain Straight.

I camped up at MacPhillamy Park (is it still called that?) in 1983. At 3 in the morning a mate and I decided to go for a lap in his Land rover.
Being race weekend half the track was closed. We got pulled up by the pigs half way up Conrod . He told us we can drive around the track, but not with somebody on the roof. Someone had rolled out his swag on the Rover's luggage rack and decided it was a good place to spend the night.

:D :)

A few years ago I was at Bathurst for the 24 hour race with the PT Crusiers Downunder Car club, we were invited to do a parade lap before the start.

What a rush!! Driving flat out round Bathurst. We could go as fast as we like as long as there was no passing.

I did 110 through skyline what a rush, and the feeling through the dipper and the esses was awesome. We even wound the PT up to 170km/h down Conrod

Lap time of 5 min 15

Also have it all on Video as Rachelle was in the passenger seat with the RaceCam.

Driving over a speed bump in a Gemini would be scary ............these Bathurst [and other tracks] tools are in full safety gear in fully braced cars - where is the danger ?

Skaife or Murphy for mine. Both blokes have stayed out of the brawling and have solid cars.

Just need a 30 minute rain period now, and this Bathurst will have everything.

There's a new way for Ford to lose this race every year... this is awesome.

Wonder how many others are out there without one.. Ingall is Ambrose stable-mate, so that doesn't surprise me.

Nearly lost Ambrose into the bush.

Going to be a tough one - i think they'll use the term 'racing room' - Ambrose was in front, but he turned in on Murphy when he didn't need to. Hopefully they'll just deem it a 'racing incident'.

If he had worn his balaclava he wouldn't have been in that mess ;)

Jarro
9th October 2005, 03:16 PM
Murphy tried to push wide on Ambrose before they got to the bend.

Looked like Murphy was in the wrong there.

Fishman Dan
9th October 2005, 03:18 PM
Ambrose came through turn-2 sideways and made first contact, but Murph was slower at that point and Ambrose got through. He was past him, but he there was plenty of room on the road.

They just spoke to Murphy - 'racing room'.

Mike, that is pure gold! How long did it take to clean the stains off the roof?

Re the 'hot lap', I kid you not. He was a scary driver. Was doing 120+ down Conrod. The cops must have taken that night off.

I have a photo of one of the other guys I hung out with, having got the speedo off the clock in that same mini bus, with the hand throttle round as far as it would go, with both hands on the steering wheel, but both feet up on the dashboard. It was going down the big hill near McLaren Vale or Noarlunga in South Australia.

Sometimes I wonder how I'm still here.
