Based on The List it will be 6 v 6.

Off the Top of my head it looks as though the WA Team could be

JC
Hocko
Nuffie (pencil)
Veeman
Watty (pencil)

Then out of Id, Myself, Tommy G and simmsy. Tommy G's 17 hcp may make him a Captains Pick

Ok...Now we are booked in for the Champs, Can people let me know if they intend to Play Golf on Friday.

I have the Following Booked at Bunbury and Binny starts when we get there.

Friday 26th October:

Bunbury Golf Club 4 or 5 Groups. First Tee Off 9am ($45 at this stage)
Skins game at Binningup Golf Course Approx 2.30pm ($15 per Player)

Let me know if your playing (sorry to those who have told me already, but 500 PM's and Posts I got a bit lost).

Format

Open for discussion. SOO has been discussed with 3 each from 4 states the play (QLD, NSW, VIC and WA). This is an option, but I think we are one short from VIC? Unless any WAnker is a closet Vic (i lived there for 6 years, but considered myself a WA lad).

I think an EAST vs West 18 holes is more inclusive and can be played at Bunbury. 4bbb MatchPlay would be the format. I suggest for the WA team I'll pick the 6 highest Cappers and 2 captains Picks to play for WA.

Captain from the East will need to be decided.

Binningup will be A Fun/Drink/Skins Games.

Keep all Friday golf Discussion in here.
Born and bred, if the mighty Vics require a player then i will quite happily pop on a guernsey.

Not just GI, the same is the case with the Vines PGN on a sun/tues:

Comps were off the whites up to late last year in PGN (Par 72, ACR 70) but now all played off the blues (Par 72, ACR 72).

It gives Vines players the option to play competition on both sat/sun if they choose 8).

The easiest comp round in Perth would have to be PGN's Maylands one, as I'm pretty sure they only have White and Red tees.

Have yet to play it in a comp but could imagine a short, straight, flat, unbunkered course like Maylands, with softish greens, could be carved up pretty easy.

Ok Looks like

8 from the East and 11 from the West (I'm going by Ozgolf Posting boundaries.)

We can do a top 6 Stableford Score or straight out 8 vs 8 (although this would leave a few WAnkers out).

Any Suggestions? I think we will get a few more WAnkers playing before the Time is out. I have booked 5 groups so if your playing and haven't said so, I currently only have 1 spot left and will need to book another group.

I like the idea of head to Head matchplay... Pair the players with similar Caps and may the best Team win.

2 easts and 2 wests in each group, each playing their own match, caddying from Teammate allowed, Sledging mandatory.

Be nice if I won lotto too. And much more likely to happen as well.

TWM is a listener, not much of a chatter. He also works at work and has other commitments most evenings and weekends. Around all that he tries to squeeze in some time for the family.
I couldn't imagine him sitting down to surf the 'net.

Agreed. The following post from the Forum Overlord sums it up nicely when discussing eligibility (as opposed to entry).

Guys

I have sent a PM out as below, to try to determine a fair eligibilty criteria for our upcoming Champs, as requested in the Champs thread.

From the 13 replies and my own opinion, I believe we should go with the criteria below:

To be eligible to win the Championship, the participant must be a contributing member of the forum.

The term "contributing" is intentionally vague as it would be something that would be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

However this brings up the question as to whether jarro should play or not. That is, does he actually contribute anything to the forum? :smt044

It generally means that the member should post now and then, and has or intends to take part in other Ozgolf days, with special considerations.

For Example, both Golfgirl and Kee have been unable to either post or take part in days due to personal circumstances, and they would not be excluded as a result. Other considerations may include those who are not located near other OZgolf members.

This does not mean that only members can participate in the day and win prizes. This criteria is for the title (and trophy (and bragging rights)) for the overall OZgolf Club Champion.

Several people mentioned that we don't want to discourage others from playing and joining our community, and I agree. So I would encourage anyone to play and be eligible for the prizes, if the yet-to-be-determined "comp" fee is paid.

Finally, another undertone of some of the replies was that it was all getting a little too serious. So let's just remember why we organise these rounds in the first place. To have a hit of golf with mates (with some sledging), and enjoy ourselves.

P.S I believe a secondary issue is the eligility of a pro and there are have been some grumblings about this, however I didn't address this in the eligibility questions that I asked. So I'm not sure how to tackle this one. If you want to remain anonymous in your thoughts on this, PM me your opinion and I will post it. :?

If he's ineligible for the champs let me know and I'll pass it on. I'm sure he won't be too bothered, nothing worries him, but it'd be best for him to know in advance rather than find out afterwards on the off chance that he wins another Ozgolf day.

For mine - its not the eligibility - its that there has been no consideration or personal effort involved from a bloke who wants to play. As sms or oms said, it takes 5 mins to log in and send a post saying "thanks shadesy, i would like to play as well".

Ozgolf is only as good as the participants that put in the time to make it what it is. If no one posted there wouldn't be a trip down south and everyone would like to hear from TWM every now and again because from what you say, he sounds like a top guy, but how would any of us know.

It's not a gang up Veefore......the excuses you have given "for him" are a prime example of what we're talking about.

Unless he's a super hero saving the world from impending doom, there is no real reason he can't pop in every now and then and say 'ello.

He's probably a top bloke but non of us (except you) would know.....getting you to log in and speak on his behalf is very poor form IMO.

The biggest problem with getting people like TWM and others like him to contribute regularly is the fact that they are time-poor and can only check in once or twice a week. Then, when they do check in they have to wade through hundreds of posts of either inane dribble or insider jokes and conversation that leaves them feeling as if there is an "inner circle" and they are being excluded from it.

I've recommended this site to at least a dozen people and when I later ask them if they checked it out I get the same sort of comments from them. One compared it to Facebook rather than a golf forum.

I understand that this is the social network of choice for some of you but I fear that the very things that makes it so appealing to you, the conversational and often off-topic aspect of it, is also the thing that turns some others away or even just makes it harder for them to participate.

I've noticed from a personal perspective that in any WA threads if I don't pick up on it within the first day it is up then the thread has gone off on a tangent or just turned in to dribble and any comments I may have had in regards to the original post, constructive or not, would just seem out of place.

My first Ozgolf event last Friday was far more entertaining having a bit of an idea about everyone, and also having a few things the group could hang s**t on me about (alleged Pom, talking myself up about ld wins etc). Would have been strange to be honest if there hadn't been the banter prior.

You are much closer to the truth than you think. I did have to show him around Ozgolf and how to use its various features initially.

My post wasn't meant as a criticism of the forum, just some honest feedback from people who aren't regular users.

As for TWM, last week he had 4 rehearsals, 1 performance, 1 board meeting and 1 awards presentation. All outside trying to manage an office in Midland and another in the City during business hours. The only time I saw him during the week was when we had a budget meeting.

I'm sure he'll thank Shadesy for his efforts when we all get to Bunbury.
