OK Guys time to Get Serious.

We have 22 players for Bunbury but with Hock's Defection only 9 Eastern Staters, meaning we will pick 9 WAnkers in a format yet to be decided.

This will leave Four (4) players out of the East vs West Battle. There are a number of ways to do this (either randomly or by Handicap), is there anyone that does not want to play and is happy for a Social hit, perhaps play some side bets or just watch the action unfold.

I don't want to leave anyone out, but some may be happy just to have a stress free hit on the Friday and I will give first opportunity for those to volunteer.

The East vs West thing is meant to be a bit of fun, but we have pride at stake here and imagine it will be fairly competitive.

Yeah there are some format issues. I was thinking head to head match play. Will match Caps fairly Closely and may the best man win (off the stick).

Johnny Canuck

We have cap issues compared to Eastern boys. I am happy to play off the bat, Marty too, but our next lowest capper has gone east and will leave us with only a couple guys who just sneak into singles.

I don't know the other Guys, Could be a problem.

the SMS idea about a double point shoot out might be a winner.

Just play stableford and average the team scores, that way it doesn't matter how many on each team.

Johnny Canuck

We will nominate 9 for the average scores thanks.

If we do the match plays, I volunteer to play the double points match off the stick. Other matches being 4bbb, should play off caps.

If the handicap balance is skewed, why not just do MP off handicaps? That way someone off 10 will be playing someone off 3 on a level playing field. Even 3/4 caps would work better. We play the WA MP off handicaps!

OK WAnkers. Team management have selected our pairings and are ready to go. We suggest President's Cup style where one pair is listed and the opposing team choose whoever they want to play against them. Next match is the other way around.

When you are ready list your first pair. I will respond with A to play X, and B to play Y so that covers both singles and pairs.

Got it?

Marto65
27th September 2012, 06:55 PM

4 x 4 balls... 4bbb and Singles - 12 points
1 x 2 (18 hole Matchplay) - 1 Point
1 x 3 Ball (18 hole Matchplay - best Players plus a WAnker having a Social hit and a laugh - Volunteers needed) - perhaps 2 points?

Maybe we need to look at just having 7 x 3 Balls.... making it Stableford and taking the worst WA score away.

If a course rating exists for the ladies to play off whites then so be it (extra shots normally associated). If no such thing exists then she should play off the reds. I hear what you are saying Shaz, but this has been discussed numerous times extensively in the past. It is what it is, as unfortunate as it may seem. There are quite a few that would cry murder if we adjusted the tees we play off for one person or did what you say. The blacks at KBay play a lot tougher than the one stroke adjustment that might be received.

Johnny Canuck
28th September 2012, 10:51 PM
On Fri and Sat, there is not much difference between whites and blues. Sunday will be the only real issue as the champ tees at the bay are well back. If it is windy, goodnight.

idgolfguy
28th September 2012, 10:55 PM
I'll do the VJ Singh here.

If men are off the tips, why aren't there tees for women that are equally rated. I seldom see that on courses.

At the Vines, on Black tee days, women play off the whites.

However, men and women do not play in the same comp...unless it is some form of novelty event.

WA Champs has traditionally been off the tips where the course allows it and this has not varied since the the time of ADLO.

I don't see why we should change now. I enjoy the challenge and the scores adjust accordingly.

We don't use the ratings and the hole handicaps don't change. So the winner is based solely on the net score irrespective of the course rating.

If men are of the tips and it is the next tee up, ladies playing in the same comp and in the same prize pool play the next tee up.

Seems equitable to me.

Ive been on a mission to get a handicap so i can defend my title (i won last year playing off a cap of 12 that we pulled out of our @sses). I very rarely have the time to play 18 holes so ive only managed to hand in 2 cards: one an 80, and one a chopping 88. I hope to hell to get another couple of 18 hole rounds in before the champs so god only knows what my cap will be. Hopefully i'll play well and come in at around 10ish... WAnkers can help by inviting me to as many rounds as possible betw now and then to make it as fair a cap as possible....

As Organiser it is my job to make sure the tee times are booked, everyone who wants a hit gets a hit and that we have a great weekend.

As A forum contributor I believe we have a unique opportunity here with the eastern states guys coming over.

It is with this in mind that I feel it loses its appeal of first Hocko now Id playing for the other side. It is easties vs Wankers in posting location iMO, and if they have 9 we pick 9. It's the way it should be.

I'm not fussed at all if i miss out on east and west thing.....as long as i get to have a hit and maybe be paired with at least one team rather than at the tail one up.

I think that is the right call Z.

I say we all throw in a few $$ at the start for NTPs for all as well.

I have had a chat with my counterparts from over east and they believe the best way to do this is to base it on golfer's with eligible handicaps, which I have to agree with, as we don't want to be changing teams once they are set.

WA's 9 Representatives based on caps are (in no particular order):

1. JC
2. Marty
3. Tourfit
4. Shadesy
5. Simmsy
6. Golfnut
7. Hocko
8. IDGG
9. Yoss

Reserves:
Jeffo - 18
Cosmo - 20
Tommyg - unofficial 10 cap
Zeus - unofficial 12 cap
