View Full Version : 910F Vs RBZ Tour .... fairway wood challenge.

Jarro
29th July 2012, 08:08 AM
I'm looking at getting a new fairway wood.

Gaz was kind enough to let me have a hit with his 910F..and it went great .... nice and strong flight, and pretty easy to hit.

I'm intrigued by the RBZ fairways though. Are they as good as the marketing hype suggests ?

Anybody compared both these fairway woods side-by-side ?

Help a hacker find a new fairway wood please

Jado swears by them.........

I have a 910F and hit his RBZ on froday and it felt solid, but prefer the feerl of a 910F.

I haven't tried an RBZ yet, but those that have, that I have talked to, seem to say they are great off a tee, but not so easy to launch off the turf if you don't have a good SS to get them into the air.

I gave the RBZ a workout on the LM. It struggled against old faithful with 700 rpm more spin, higher trajectory, not as straight and 10 yards shorter. Not comparing apples with apples as the RBZ had a long light shaft. Walked in with an itchy wallet, walked out empty handed.

I did the same with the 910 last year, it gave good numbers but both clubs were similarly shafted.

you didn't ask this but I have hit the R11 and RBZ and whilst the RBZ is longer, the R11 (and I would think any of the other fairway woods like 910) was a lot easier to work. I went with workability over length.

Thanks folks :)

The 910 was pretty spiffy to hit .... i think it gave me slight 'movement'

Anyway, i'll chase one up as i think my SS might not be enough to get the best from the RBZ :(

Have a look at TEE xcg-3 cheaper and better imo. Certainly against the 910f anyway.

Love my RBZ!!

same! I had a 910fd and it feels better than the rbz. I have the 14.5 tour and no trouble hitting it off the deck, mind you the non tour has a masive head so it might be difficult without being teed up. I would definitely try the tour version, stock shaft better in than the non tour.

I will be having a 3 way battle between my current 910f 17*, and newly aquired R9 17* and RAZR Fit 15* when they arrive. The loser will most likely end up in the Pro Shop.

I hit the RBZ Tour (stock X-Con 7) about 20m further than my 910Fd (GD DI-8) - this in on course, not in a launch monitor. The RBZ also felt better to me and was slightly more forgiving. Both are great FWs.

I have a 910F 13.5 wound to 14 point whatever, PX shaft, excellent ball flight, great off tee and fairway.

Haven't hit the rbz.

No comparison for mine, RBZ does everything the Titleist does & hits it 10-20m longer. Whether it's off the tee or deck I can't find a fault with the RBZ, length & workability, what more can you ask for? I rate them that highly that I flicked my 910 hybrid & now play a 19* RBZ 5 wood. The stock shafts that come with them work very well too. If you are prone to an out to in swing I would get the non tour model. The 910 is a great fairway too, can't go wrong either way.

I changed my shoe laces and gained 10 yards !

RBZ Tour is hands down the best fairway i have owned.I dont take to koolaid too well but i had to find out for myself & yes, everyone is correct, its super long & gets up quick off the deck.

This is comming from someone who doesnt like TM,Titty or Callaway woods :)

Found this slightly interesting: recent shots I've seen on tour shows Mr Mizuno - Luke Donald using a TM Rocketballz driver and Rocketballz fairway/s.

Unless Mizuno are now doing a club that looks almost identical.......

I've got an RBZ tour 4 wood getting shipped over with an AD BB. My 3 wood that Nudgee is taking off my hands goes way too far. Need a higher lofted club but with similar distance . Had the F910 and FD 910 and wasn't too impressed. The SF2.0 was more consistent, so I'm going back to TM for a 3wood after being a Titty man for most of my golf career.

Have owned both. For me, the 910 was a much truer "fairway wood". The taylor is great off the tee and the longest thing I've hit bar the exotics cB4. The problem is the same with all these length orientated fairways, very little workability and often pretty difficult to flight, comparative to a compact head shape. 910 is a pretty great club, titleist are always good, remember tiger used one for 36 months while with nike. 910 has a great feel, great shaft options, great look but pricey or used to be. With the i20 which is better than both. Which they'd release the G20 in murdered finish.

Im after a new three wood so this thread has been good

I rarely hit 3 wood off the tee, I just hit shorter drive if need be

so far this is my short list

Ping i20 - reviews good
Pingi15 - smallish head
Titleist 910 - probabaly the slight favorite at the moment - never hit one
late bolter srixon Z star
RBZ - never been huge TM fan, but the love for this bat seems strong
Razr fit

seems logical to go for an adjustable one to dial in the flight I need

the hunt begins

Don't be put off by the white, rbz fairways are the shizzle! Easy to hit off the deck & even easier fom the tee, best part is the stock shaft works really well.

yeah Im lways reluctant with TM, just am.

The 3 wood I have had for about 6 years. Its my longerst serving club

never even had a sideways glance at anything else, but SS for a 13 deg wood isnt ideal and with less practice I need some forgiveness

like the 910F in terms of adjustability

the new ping i20 looks very swish indeed but no adjustability. hmm. They say its a smidegn bigger than the i15 but more forgiving

I want it for off the deck shots on par 5's

Had a look at the razr fit also but feedback on the US forums hasn't been so great yet the fit driver everyone loves!

re-sale vlaue too is something I consider - if it doesnt work the 910F has decent re-sale value

I'd get a 910 before I got a ping i20. The ping is a great stick but I didn't find it real forgiving, 910 is much easier to hit for mine. You'll shit a kitten when you hit an rbz, they are that good

what adjustability does the RBZ have?

JADO75
8th August 2012, 12:14 AM
It doesn't have any, only thing you can do is if your bad shot is a slice, get the non tour (15*) as it sits a little closed. Or if you're a hooker, get the tour model (14.5*) as they sit open. There's no denying they are a big arse looking fairway but when you pipe one 240m or so you'll soon forget about how big they look or how white it is.

I still want to hate the RBZ line. I hate the white, I hate the size.

But it works. and it works well.

After reading a few more reviews 910 is the go for me

ball flight was lower and bores better - better in the wind for me.

I found one US ebay - reg pro launch blue shaft, have played this shaft before in wood and it plays firm for a reg - just how I like it. $180 posted - done and paid.

USPS express is meant to be quicker - states it will arrive on the 13-15 August. Thats OK if true

3 balls and global golf had some but not a real fan of the diamana shaft either- I know there was one on here on oz golf with a V2 stiff but it was tipped and would be way too stiff for me and none on USA ebay.

if it doesnt work wil re-sell and get the RBZ

I have said this before but FFS why don't they do two colors

you would think on average most will like black, so do 75% black 25% white. I don't mind either color but many are particular and fair enough (you're paying for it)

give cobra credit they did the ZL encore in 2 colors - its not that hard is it?

Im sure Taylormade are utterly devastated that they didnt discuss their marketing scheme and colour bandings with dave1 prior to product launch. Surely they could have done better than having the most succesfull selling driver on the market, and having other companies copy their product.

Just imagine how many they would have sold if they painted them black :-)

Seriously thou I can't believe how dirty they get, And I imagine the Matt finish would not be easy to clean. Is this clever marketing so more people replace there woods more often?

I have the rescue, and used it for the first time yesterday. Used it out of the rough about 210 metres out. It easily got to the green, almost ran off the back on a wet, muddy track. IMPRESSED

but echo the above thoughts it gets bloody dirty. After hitting the shot, the white head was green from cutting through the grass. didnt notice it after hitting the shot, but when I got home to clean my gear, it looked like I had been practicing whacking frogs!

I totally agree on the marketing, but I personally don't like the white or the Graphics, the Ping matt black looks the best to me, I don't like how dirty they get and how hard they would be to clean without ruining the finish.

I have been a bit of a TM fan and have played a lot of there woods, but I refuse to try the matt white woods because I don't like the look, and just incase they are awesome :-)

magic scrubber from bunnings

its a white cleaner that looks like a sponge, brilliant for getting rust of clubs without removing anything else - it kind works like very very very fine sandpaper, few drops of water and no detergent needed

great for getting marks of walls and rust spots of cars also
