Pro down at Manly is rocking an "Old Master" putter i had a few cracks with the other day. Really enjoyed the fact that it had no alignment aids, and i put the ball to the spot and felt less mechanical.

I'd like to give one a try but have a budget of F*** All and don't really trust the bay the way i do ozgolf. Im actually going to have a look in the old clubs bin down at vinnies/cash converters as well.

pt73 has a 8813 on the Bay with a $40 starting price. PM him and negotiate, I reckon. I think he's northern beaches.

I have both a 8802 and 8813 of my own and they're both superb.

Yeah the 35 to 40 buck range is more my taste for an experiment such as this. The old master putter was absolutely sweet i really liked the fluting on the neck not sure if the Daiwa above is that same style?

Most important to me is the complete lack of alignment aids and that it look like a butter knife on the end of a stick :)) Will check out PT73's wilson on the bay as well.

As always excellent response from the ozgolf posse.

Ferrins i'm going to grab PT73's Wilson and give it a rock first as he is actually a member down at the same club as me and i can figure out if i like the style before investing more time into the thing sorry if you had already spent the 35 bucks on further purchases!

The old master is mild steel that has been forged, so it will have a heavier head than the Diawa which is cast. The 8802 is a forged head, while the 8813 is a cast ss head. With these putters, balance is very important. A light head requires a longer shaft. If you prefer a shorter shaft then weight will needed to be added to the head.

doesnt look like there's many places where you can discreetly add weight to that head either.

unless its tape at the bottom, but that isnt the sleekest idea.

What is the thoughts about adding tip weights into the shaft - will that upset the balance too much?

That sounds fortuitous Raz as I play a putter at about 38 inches.

Are you 6' 6"+ Bushy. Not sure how this head would suit a 38" shaft. Do you know how to locate the COG of the head of a club by plumb bob?

I'm 6'5 and i couldn't find my arse with two hands :)

i'm going to measure the shaft i have in my pal 4 now to make sure it's 38.
