I've always wanted to start one of these, and courtesy of public holiday in NSW today, now I can.

32 points at Camden Valley, with Jono and Spiersy.

Stats don't look too bad, but my game fell apart in the middle of the round, with a sequence of double, bogey, triple, bogey destroying the score.

Fairways = 8 of 14
GIR = 10 of 18
Putts = 34, one three-putt, one birdie
Up and Down = 2 of 3
Sand Saves = 0 of 2
2 penalty shots.

More details of the game will appear in my Camden Valley thread in 1st tee.

Second consecutive round with a pair of 39's for a 78 (+6). Did it a little differently today, with 3 double bogeys, 2 bogeys, and 2 birdies. 2 of the doubles coming from wedge approaches from the fairway. Not good. :(

Ain't that the truth.... i actually did the 'nana a bit today, which I am not proud of  .... no club chucking or anything, but more than my share of expletive deletives, and whacking of the clubhead on the ground. No more of that chit for me.

theres nothing more frustrating than hitting a wedge inside 130m going into a bunker, water or rough. and if it goes into a bunker it plugs thats the ultimate in your face punishment.

76 off the stick in the Nudgee club champs....would have been a good score if did'nt have 85 the previous day.
So if I go through to the next round it will be a minor miracle, nice to break 80 though with 3 birdies. 8)

October 1: Kyogle GC Medal. Nett 79

Just an ordinary day of crap golf. Took 10c of JD which was worth the admission price. Hot... very very hot in Kyogle.

Oct 2: Bottom 10 at Casino

No train wrecks, still getting the driver out there. Square with the card and par'd/birdie'd the 18th (GIR, and 2 goes at the monster putt). Nearly had my brain pecked by the magie on the 8th.

Oct 3: Medley Stableford

34 points - 1 wipe... last friggin' hole    Knifed a 5w from a filled divot OB to the right of the green. Other than that, solid golf all day. Made some clutch putts and irons were good. Damn hot - too hot for the territorial magpies to bombard us (3 of them on the course)

We had the first two rounds of our Club Champs this weekend (4 rounds of stroke in total).

Shot 76 and 76 which I am pretty pleased with. The second round included 7 over on the front nine and 2 under on the back  .

Waiting for the results on the club web page but I would say between 3rd and 6th. A couple of our very good players missed the champs as the Riversdale (or something like that) Cup is on which is one of the big amatuer tournaments.

How's this for the thing that turned the round? Played the 8th hole (168 metres of pure water carry) and drowned the first ball. Changed gloves (had been wearing a new one that just didn't feel right -went back to an oldie). Third shot (inc penalty) to 3 feet for a tap in bogie (second ball birdie). From there on was 2 under for the next 10 (and 3 under for 11 if you include the second ball birdie). Stupid game!

Played Carnarvon this morning with no luck, it was one of those days, where nothing went in the hole, if it was offline it would hit a tree solid as and stop dead. I had about 10 putts stop on the lip or loop through and come back at me!

Shot 25 points 5 wipes destroyed any chance of a good score.

Got frustrated and my swing fell apart. Not transfering weight to front foot causing massive cuts. Hopefully that is the bad round that I had to have.

Back to work tomorrow so no golf till next Tuesday.

Scooted round Westgate today with the wife's boss and one of her co-workers. Form was ominous for FG

43 (par is 33). Only went round the once as my partners have work to do.
Mostly good but did include a 4 putt triple and a 1 putt triple on consecutive holes.

Might go out again this afternoon 8)

Went around to Royal Altona Lakes on my own and thought I was cursed when I ended up behind 2 groups of 4 hacking kids.

But really it was lucky as I ended up having a great practice round. "Ball 1" went round in 5 over for 40 with 17 putts. I can only claim an unofficial PB on that due to all the other practice shots I played while I was out there. At one point things got so backed up I walked back 80m and played 8 wedges in.

Hope I can keep the driver rythym going for Friday.

Played in the Monthly Medal today. Was happy with my game - finally getting a bit of form back.
Had a 86 gross - 66 nett....par at the moment is 69 due to a temporary green - still thats 3 under my handicap.
Would love to be able to report a handicap reduction - but alas and alack - got screwed by the CCR of - yep - you got it - 66.

shot level par 35 on the front with a bogey-bird-bird-bogey stretch from 3 to 6...and didn't make the birdie putts on 8 and 9...

1 under the card after birdie on 11, but went double/double on 13 and 14 to screw my score up...

coming to the 18th, totally out of my game play, wanted to eagle the hole to get it back to 73...
great drive to the other fairway...took out the 21` fli-hi...and drew the ball OOBs...2nd ball finished short of the green - double bogey...75... :(

3rd consecutive 18 with less than 30 putts too... :D

I had my name down with 3 other guys today. Just before tee-off, the pro told me 2 of them had called in and cancelled. The rest of the field was full, so we were stuck as a 2. Still, we soldiered on. He was really good company, and as a consequence, I had an absolute ball. We had a little interest in the game, including pins every hole (his choice). Given the fact that his handicap was 10 more than mine, as you would expect, I towelled him up on the NTP's. Other than that, it was a close match.

damn. 4 pages already this thread and its not even the weekend yet.
i gotta start playing again i think.

Caddied today at the tournament at Coolangatta Tweed heads. Bumped into Nick Flanagan, literally, and gee he is not very big - smaller than me in fact, especially around the waist.

We better start hoping the River Course greens get better real soon becuase they are very ordinary. Hard, bumpy, dead spots. But i did hear that the West course were schmick.

Monthly Medal today.  Cold, wet, and windy conditions.  Struck it pretty well, but a lost ball just off the fairway in the spring rough on 13 halted my mo' (triple :( ).  Missed a a couple of short putts... on 14 & 16, and that was a bit disappointing.

Carded an 80, nett 73 (+1).  Shouldn't be too bad in those conditions, but it was a bit of a waste.  Had 33 putts today, and apart from those 2 short misses, actually putted OK.  Just couldn't get any to drop.

37 pts (1 wipe).

33 putts on greens cored 2 weeks ago, but you wouldn't know. Pretty trecherous - no 3 putts.

Again stuffed the 18th for a 1 putt 7/1, should have been better with 1 penalty and thousand tap-ins... took until the 16th for a long putt to drop.

Not easy in the gale force wind, but i wasn't happy to walk in and see 43 leading B-grade.

Hmmm. Ironic.

I creep out to 7.5, get a shot back on the 16th, then wipe it. But in the process I shot 38 pts, so will probably drop back to 7 and lose the 16th again. I would much rather keep the shot on 16 and give one up elsewhere. I just seem to have difficulty with that hole on a consistent basis.

Stats:

Score: 38pts with 1 wipe (78 gross)
Fairways: 3/14 (quite a few were just in the first cut)
Greens: 9/18
Putts: 31
Sand saves: 2/2
Birdies: just 1 (should have been 4 or 5)
Pars: 12
Bogies: 4
Other: 1

On another note: I had my chest puffed out after rogering a drive to 50m out on the 350m straight par 4 3rd hole. But it was quickly deflated a matter of seconds later when the 3-marker in my group flew mine on the full.

08/10/05, Nambour GC, Monthly Honours

Woeful! Felt like a waste of time. The setup/swing changes are giving me no encouragement or confidence at the moment.
Had the whole set of shots: hook, draw, fade, slice, fat, thin, shank. Oh wait, I didn't have an airswing.

Too make it worse, I can't chip or putt to recover.

I went into the round without any expectations of score, however I did expect to see the changes start to click. Didn't happen, hopefully tomorrow. Probably my worst mood on the golf course for a good while, and even stopped caring about some putts, which is a first.
I think I should forget that my handicap is 12, and treat my round as if I have started again from 27.

4/12 effective T-shots.
1/18 effective approaches.
36 putts.
4/15 Up & Downs.
------------------------
4 pars.
6 bogeys.
4 doubles.
3 triples.
1 quadruple.
Score 50-45-95 nett 83 (Par 34-34-68 )

I know how Andy feels, 'cos I feel the same after today's round.

Very strong wind in Sydney today, but I hit so many bad shots in my 87 net 81 today that I feel like abandoning my swing changes (or making some new changes around the greens).

The stats tell a very poor story

7 of 14 fairways
7 of 18 greens in reg
38 putts, no birdies, 4 three putts
2 of 9 up and down
0 of 1 sand saves

Every time I hit a good shot I followed it with either a shocker or a three putt or a bad chip.

AndyP & Jim, I know the feeling.
I am in a big slump at the moment, the worst thing is I don't feel I am playing that bad. I am just getting myself in positions that I should not get myself in. My good run of my handicap going in the right direction earlier in the year has all but evaporated now. My being known as a better golfer than my handicap suggest is starting to eat at me and it is affecting how I play. Hopefully the champiionships this coming weekend will change that.

Saturday - played KGM (2 weeks after KGM Open)...
Greens were much better, but brought a heavier putter anyway...seemed to work better on their greens...mental note for next years....

Shot a 83 (+11) for the round, with 4 OOBs off the tee...
hit some good iron shots, more bad irons shots tho...
missed some easy putts...but 28 putts for the round, I'll take it...

gonna have to come up with a better game plan for this course...
pity, coz I've had some good rounds there this year... :? :?

Sunday - played against the KID this morning...
been a while since we played 18 together, and got him 74 to 75...first win against him for quite a while actually...

had 2 chip-in-birds (my only 2 birds)... 8)
but didn't make any putts whatsoever, so lucky to keep the putts to 28 for the round...

drove the ball crap again, some better iron shots...but driver was not giving me anything to work with...

Choosing not to play is fine. Playing and padding your score by intentionally throwing a few holes to protect your handicap is baaaaaad.

I had to give my opponent 14 shots  I was playing pretty good - and of course she had to be playing the best she's played for months. We made the turn square then I won 5 of the next six holes to take the match. :D I played probably the best game I've ever played - made more pars than I've ever made - and two birdies. :D

Oh...and in case you guys never hear from me again - this will be the reason. John and I are playing in our first mixed comp on Thursday - 4BB. I hope we survive the experience. Please notify the police if I'm not back on Ozgolf by the weekend. :D

09/10/05, Beerwah GC, Single Stableford

A lot better than the day before even though the score doesn't really reflect it. Beerwah was a bit more punishing on my stray shots (3 OOB).
However, I did hit several shots that felt good, and the putting started to come back to me by the end.

7/14 effective T-shots.
2/18 effective approaches.
34 putts.
----------------
6 pars.
3 bogeys.
7 doubles.
2 triples.

Score 49-46-95 stab 26pts (Par 36-36-72)
Or with my new 27 handicap, I had 41 points. ;)
