Guys - just to clarify...
Did not mean to throw a wrench into the planning. If Binningup was planned for the whole day that is fine. It was never done that way before and I had always played 18 somewhere else before turning up. No one else had taken me up on a round due to work commitments in the past.

I like the course but to play it three times on the same day - I will do it because of the event not because of the course. It is not that interesting to me that many times in one day. It is what it is - an excellent 9 holer, with the second tees near enough to the first that it does not add much variation.

Looking at it from the viewpoint of our guests, making an assumption on what they are thinking - to play a 9-hole course three times may get tedious. I understand that drinks and other entertainment will break the monotony.

I offered the Vines for the reasons below:
1. It is my home course and I can get people on cheaper;
2. As we are are playing in the afternoon, carts are available, and rest for the 2 hour trip down South;
3. Teeing off early would get us to Binningup by 1pm - we have not ever started playing there at that time;
4. Regardless of its rating, the Vines is still considered a championship layout and is well-known worldwide.

Johnny Canuck
17th July 2012, 09:51 PM

1. It is my home course and I can get people on cheaper;
2. As we are are playing in the afternoon, carts are available, and rest for the 2 hour trip down South;
3. Teeing off early would get us to Binningup by 1pm - we have not ever started playing there at that time;
4. Regardless of its rating, the Vines is still considered a championship layout and is well-known worldwide.

It is a lot more driving, especially for those that might have to head home that night.

I do enjoy The Vines and the variety would be nice, but for me, driving in the opposite direction of where we need to go just doesn't make sense. For a 7am tee time, I would have to leave mine before 6, even earlier if we are picking up the Queerenders.

If really wanted to switch it up, we could hook up 18 at Mandurah, The Cut or Harvey, which are all on the way.

idgolfguy
17th July 2012, 09:57 PM
The Vines wasn't originally directed at the locals. Zeus, Nuffie and I were closeby. I didn't think there would be any takers. It was primarily directed at the the guests. We could have got 3 groups in so that would have catered for the odd WAnker.

As I stated - I did not know we were playing from morning at Binningup.

I would prefer to play 18 somewhere in the morning (perhaps Mandurah or Harvey) and head to Biningup in the afternoon. However, with Simmsy's penchant for Binningup and the planning in place - it is fine by me.

The Cut would be too expensive and could be tiring for some.

rubin
17th July 2012, 10:01 PM
The cut is rubbish. The view is good, but that's it.

Why not bunbury on Friday? It's worth it, and Friday we could probably get on. Then we can do binni round the corner in the arvo.

Good move to send this event south. Better options for our guests, Sun City was pretty Sun S#!Tty last time I went round it.

Bunvegas followed by the traditional skins @ Binny (with a tinny or two... or...) would be far better than Vines. It was a good suggestion by Idgg to get some groups on but after all, what we want is a WA golfing showcase.

Playing golf beside the sea whilst maneuvering your ball over/through coastal heath along gentle rolling fairways with a gorgeous backdrop is the true essence of what courses in Southwest WA have to offer.

Nuffie
17th July 2012, 11:22 PM
The ninth in the dark again!!!! Even playing the 8th is a whole lot of fun. Hitting that green in two (over a 180m hazard carry in fading light) at the best of times is an achievement in itself. But trying to do it whilst your tipsy is a whole different ball game.

Thats an unsure. Obviously if I were to come I would need to book my own chalet for me and the missus. As great a girl as she is with the whole blokes being blokes thing I wouldn't subject her to sleeping in a room full of you boys!

But Jack also could just want this to be a boys only trip from home to Tulla so if that's the case (and I can't blame him for that) then it may be a miss also.

Busso is a great little course with the best greens I've ever played. The bottom half of the course gets boggy if there's been some rain and there's one funky dogleg hole, 11 or 12. Other than that, you should have a great day out.

Guys, have your sorted your accommodation for Thursday night in Perth. Perth is usually about $450 per night at a cheap hotel. Let me know if you need some assistance. The Vines is about $400 for a 2 or 3 bed apartment.

I also have an Accor card and members discount which may bring the cost down further. Just means you have to drive a little further (35 mins) but will probably save about $600 or more between you.

Should be.
I don't drink to much on outings so driving is not a problem.
