My uncle was a copper (detective) in Darwin during the original death and trial. He said that there were far too many cowboys trying to make a name for themselves in this investigation and trial, thats both police, lawyers, everyone and that nobody up there had the experience to deal with a case of this nature so he figured that it was all going to turn into a huge debacle - good call huh! So he stayed absolutely away from every aspect of the investigation, his actual words were "ducked and weaved" each time it seemed like he might get involved.

Oh, and when I stayed in the same camping ground a few years later, a Dingo tried to steal our Saxa salt, but didnt like the taste and ran off with our Parmesan cheese instead, but he did not open them with scissors.
