Start a thread for Season 2017. The Raiders may (and just may) have accepted Dave Furner is rubbish by then and sacked him. That would also mean John McIntyre is no longer involved, so its either 2017 or once he kicks the bucket...

OK so the 2012 thread is dead to me now so I guess this is the place to be.

The Broncos management droning on about promotion from within/working with what we have/blah blah blah is shitting me.
If there is talent on the market in a position we need improvement in you have to go for it. It starts with halfback, Wallace
is a 5/8 FFS. Daly Two-Dads would be the preference but I would even go so far as grab Sandow if Parra want to flick him.
Josh Hoffman is too slow for a fullback in todays game, line him up with all the other FBs and I reckon he would not even be
within 10m over 100. You need someone dynamic at the back!!!!! Get rid of Sammy as Captain it's just not working.... How they
let Teo go is beyond me...... dummies.

Taylor is the most penalised forward in the game they say. He is dumb as an ox, and then some. Great talent but those penalties. I notice lately he's starting to get involved in niggle he used to stay clear of.

This thread will start to liven up soon.. ;)

I agree, and it's funny that we all think Wallace is better suited to 6 than 7 now. I think it gives him the option to be a bit more selective when he pops up. Hunt is a 7, and has made a good fist of it in toyota cup. I would rather him over Sandow. Two dads is worth chasing though.

Jarro
11th September 2012, 06:48 AM
Hunt and Wallace have to be the starting halves next year.

Hunt is a great halfback, very creative, so he should be given the chance to prove that from the get-go next season.

Norman needs more time at fullback, where he's best suited IMO.

We have the forward strikepower (when they're in form and not injured) so we're ok there... we just need to get our playmaker options sorted out.

Blame Warren Ryan from the late 80s. He was the first of the technical coaches that reduced the game to its essential elements. Phil Gould followed in his footsteps. It works. Directly modelled on the technical analysis utilised by the gridiron coaches.

Correct. Broncos news release just received.

"PRINCE TO BE A BRONCO AGAIN
The NRMA Insurance Broncos have today agreed to a two-year deal that will bring Scott Prince back to the club he last played with in 2003.

Prince, who played with the Broncos between stints with the Cowboys, Tigers and Titans, will be back in a maroon and gold jersey for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

The Titans gave the 32-year-old a release from the final year of his contract yesterday, with the included severance package providing the opportunity for the Broncos to ink Prince’s signature.

Prince has played 278 NRL matches, 29 of them with the Broncos between 2001 and 2003.

He will begin training with the Broncos when pre-season starts on Monday."

Yeah i hope Hunt stays around too .... he should be our #7 now, but we seem to persist with Wallace there

Stagg will be good value. A good worker who can ballplay a bit as well.

If Stagg stays fit he will start playing 80mins again, and be a workhorse in defence... The only people that people that will complain are those that have Corey Parker in their dream team sides.. ( less work, less points)

I think Parker might play a bit wider, take over the role Teo had ( similar to lines he ran origin), all bit it, with out the potency that Teo had.. It will free Parker up on attack a little more, taking pressure of Thaiday etc with go forward.( something we really lacked, considering the size of our pack, over the back half of last year)

He will be knocking on the door for a first grade coaching spot should one become available during the year, got down to final 3 for the Tigers job.

I said that there might not have been too much competition in the centres. A quick check shows that in the early 1990s, Origin centres were Mark McGaw, Peter Jackson, Laurie Daley, Brad Fittler and Steve Renouf. Handy players but hardly in Meninga's class.

And don't start me about Meninga's coaching. He set some impressive standards at Canberra. It is also commonly known that he doesn't exactly run the show for Qld either. Neil Henry and Michael Hagan have done more than Mal.

sms316,

The players you have listed were pretty handy, some a bit more than others. But in my opinion they are not in the same class as Meninga.

As for his coaching, he did set some impressive standards at the Raiders, those standards he has taken to the QRL Origin side, when you look at the BIG picture, you wouldn't have to do a real lot with the players he has available. You get them when they are fit, then all you have to do is bond them as a TEAM. Something that NSW has trouble doing.

As for his assistant coaches, I have worked with Neil Henry personally through my involvement with Junior League & he is a very smart coach.

When you look at all the coaches league has had, how many of the VG players have made VG coaches & how many of the VG coaches were VG players.

I used to love knocking one up from about 1990 to late 90's. Used to debate with the mates.

It was something like

Glenn Lazarus
Steve Walters
Paul Harragon
Gordon Tallis
Bob Linder (1990 kangaroo tour pre another broken leg)
Brad Clyde
Wally Lewis (best days gone, eeks in or it's Daley and possibly Stuart simply due to combination)
Allan Langer
Willie Carne (pre 936 head knocks best winger in the game, never any good again)
Mal Meninga
Andrew Ettingshausen (or Renouf or Daley)
Matt Rogers (ify maybe as both are right wingers, could flip Wishart in)
Darren Lockyer (Mullins was a candidate)

Homo/Sirro/Fittler-Daley/Walters

I'm considering Johns more the 2000's and looking at combination in the halves anyway.

Make a new thread Mike don't clog up this one with lists. It's about the 2013 season not living in the past.Since when did you make the rules? Rowey started a discussion, I followed it up. Here's a list of all the teams I hate more than the Broncos. 1) Storm.

Deep down mike knows he doesn't have anything to look forward to in the 2013 season...Sad but true.

Tallis was a much better backrower than Boyd.

No he wasn't.

+1 Tallis was twice the player Boyd was Mike, you are dreaming if you think otherwise.
Tallis was not only a terrific ball runner with great off loading skills, he was a monster in defence.

mike/Eag's .... who's going to be your #1 choice for halfback next season ?

Did you guys have a young gun playing in reserves ?

Not sure at the moment Jarro. There is some very good young talent coming through, we will have to wait and see what Price comes up with.

Yes I did, I think you may be giving him more credit than he deserves. Only my opinion.

Cameron King would be ideal, but like you Mike, I don't have a lot of faith in Price.
